First Bitcoin Bank now taking Invites | Flexcoin
June 27, 2011
The world’s first Bitcoin Bank, Flexcoin.com is now taking invites for people to use it’s banking services for bitcoins.
It’s scheduled for a July 1st, 2011 launch, but already some people are able to use the service via invite only. It’s being allocated on a per request basis as room is made available and the infrastructure is being built out.
The new design of the site was launched a few hours ago and it’s receiving positive response in terms of usefulness and eye appeal.
The invite only process was selected to stagger the growth to accommodate security related issues to ensure that everyone’s coins are safe as well as work out any potential bugs in the system (hence it’s limited rollout).
Demand for the Bitcoin bank is staggering as company officials are being inundated with requests for the service. The bank doesn’t expect any issues, however it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Feel free to put yourself on the invite list

Now comes the online Bitcoin Bank
June 23, 2011
The Online Bitcoin Wallet cottage industry is about to get slightly more crowded. The new launch scheduled for July 1st is supposed to be a second generation online bitcoin wallet or better said, a first generation bitcoin bank.
The company promises to allow easier access to pay and collect bitcoins via a mobile device. Meaning that someone can take their android or iPhone and make a payment right on the spot. Hence making payments simpler. It also allows for a central location for your bitcoins. Hence every device can now put it or pay for items via bitcoin.
The kicker? This is the first bitcoin wallet that actually pays interest, hence looking more and more like a bitcoin bank. The way they pay interest is small granted, but so is how you get interest in your normal bank account.
The site mines for bitcoins, anything found is then distributed to the account holders that have a positive balance of bitcoins in their account.
Meaning that if you have an account there, and the site obtains some coins, you’ll get a dividend.
Cool eh?

Google Voice Search launched for PC - high failure rate
June 22, 2011
The Mobile Google Voice search app has been around for sometime for an iPhone or Android, but today Google is running the voice search option for your PC.
The technology has already been there, due to Google’s experience with the mobile app However we have seen the reliability factor of the PC version of Google voice search fail by a matter of at least 40%.
We informally tested it by using the Google iPhone Mobile App and a desktop. Said the same thing with both listening. Got dramatically different results.
The iPhone “just worked” whereas the PC version, well it showed wild results. Tweeking sensitivity on the Mic and making various adjustments did help, but no where near the accuracy on the mobile app.
This could dramatically change the way people search.
What people really want is to talk to Google and have Google talk back to them.
Human talking to Google Mobile App “where is the Pizza Shop”
Google says back “2 blocks and make a right”
We’re almost there…. not yet… but almost.

Mt.Gox hacked bitcoin market attacked
June 19, 2011
Dear Mt.Gox user,
Our database has been compromised, including your email. We are working on a
quick resolution and to begin with, your password has been disabled as a
security measure (and you will need to reset it to login again on Mt.Gox).
If you were using the same password on Mt.Gox and other places (email, etc),
you should change this password as soon as possible.
For more details, please see this:
https://support.mtgox.com/entries/20208066-huge-bitcoin-sell-off-due-to-a-compromised-account-rollback
The informations there will be updated as our investigation progresses.
Please accept our apologies for the troubles caused, and be certain we will do
everything we can to keep the funds entrusted with us as secure as possible.
The leaked data includes the following:
- Account number
- Account login
- Email address
- Encrypted password
While the password is encrypted, it is possible to bruteforce most passwords
with time, and it is likely bad people are working on this right now.
Any unauthorized access done to any account you own (email, mtgox, etc) should
be reported to the appropriate authorities in your country.
Thanks,
The Mt.Gox team

Then the spam started pouring in:
———
Dear Sir or Madam,
A few hours ago the Bitcoin trading website Mt Gox has been hacked. Malicious individuals have been able to obtain a database containing usernames, email address and encrypted passwords. This information has been posted publicly on the internet.
As a Bitcoin supporter I’m now sending a message to every email address contained in the hacked database. This is to warn you that your username, email address and password have been leaked. I therefore strongly advice you to change your passwords. If you have used the same password on different websites it’s highly recommended to change your password on all of your accounts!
For a more secure alternative to Mt Gox, the community appears to be moving to TradeHill. So this is no reason to lose faith in Bitcoin itself. It must be seen as a warning that not every website can be trusted with your data however! Their link is http://www.XXXXXXX.com/?r=TH-R15683 (Note: You can remove the Referral Code when registering if you want!) This is certainly not the only website where you can exchange Bitcoins, also check out http://www.thebitcoinlist.com/dp_bitcoin/bitcoin-exchange/
Sincerely,
A Bitcoin supporter

Will Ron Paul Endorse the Bitcoin System?
June 17, 2011
We all know that Ron Paul wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, we know that he wants us off Fiat Money. Since the Bitcoin system has a limited number of total coins created (they cannot be created at will, hence the argument of printing money cannot be applied).
The problem with the gold is that honestly it’s hard to trade physical gold for purchases across the planet, or even across the state. So you have to substitute the gold for a paper IOU, paper money, or via a third party. The end result is that eventually somewhere along the lines something can go wrong and we can have an Enron type accountant with even a gold backed currency.
Bitcoins do not have such limitations, the only thing limiting about them is the total number that will ever be “created” as per an open source p2p system.
So Ron Paul, will you endorse the Bitcoin as a valid currency?

Anthony Weiner to star in BlackBerry Commercial
June 12, 2011
Anthony Weiner to star in BlackBerry Commercial. Filming has already been completed, and boy it’s going to raw naked entertainment. The commercial starring Anthony Weiner and his blackberry will start off with him sending sexy messages to random (in some cases) underage women. The Blackberry commercial will show everyone what kind of resolution you can get with the built in camera and just how effective it is in picking up women.
It’s unsure how much Anthony Weiner was paid to film the commercial but our sources have stated that he won’t be needing to work in Washington for a while.
The story is developing, and we’re sure this commercial will get national and international attention. Just look at the buzz surrounding the announcement!
We wish Blackberry and Mr. Weiner good luck with this groundbreaking campaign.

Wikileaks endorses Bitcoin and Namecoin
June 9, 2011
Wikileaks has endorsed Bitcoin and Namecoin about 5 minutes ago via their twitter post.
Wikileaks’ Twitter Post
The two projects have taken the internet by storm. Especially over the past several days as widespread media attention has focused on the decentralised nature of both systems.
The ‘scary’ one however is bitcoin to many central bankers and regulators. The currency can’t be “printed” and is virtually untraceable.
This is leading to some extreme problems for the governments, someone created a currency right under their noses and now they have a limited time to squash it.
The end result is this cannot be crushed unless the government moves fast. If it reaches critical mass prior to it being ruled illegal , then it will be difficult , if not impossible to stop. It’s a race to see how wide it’s adopted before it’s attempted to be stopped.
My bet is on bitcoins, something like this spreads fast… really fast.
The fact that the media attention over the currency has skyrocketed over the past few days further speeds it’s growth.
Congress, do something now or forever hold your peace.

US Senate drafting anti Bitcoin law
June 9, 2011
Democratic Senators Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia are in the process of drafting an anti-bitcoin law that would make trading or using the bitcoin currency illegal in the United States.
The draconian law (from what we have seen) would make ANY trades in the currency illegal. They are stating that the currency is constitutional.
They are citing that congress only has the right to print money.
U.S. Constitution - Article 1 Section 8
To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;
Hence the argument is that bitcoins are already illegal.
Regardless the currency is under attack. Inflation.Me has become the central rallying point to save the online currency. The site is accepting bitcoin donations..
The whole problem with bitcoins is that they are out of the control of the Federal Reserve, this most likely has no where to go but bad.

New York Advertising Agency - Adaptive Glass
June 8, 2011
Evidently there is a new advertising agency based in New York, it’s called Adaptive Glass.
The neat thing about the agency is that they are using SEO as a branding tool. Most traditional advertising agencies view SEO as a side item, generally the agencies that didn’t even have SEO in their vocabulary until 2010.
From their SEO page, “Search Engine and Social Media Optimization are generally what defines you for online branding. The answer is yes, SEO CAN brand an entity…. generally speaking much more powerful than even an expensive traditional campaign. Have you ever saw a billboard for Wikipedia, or you know of the site from countless Google Searches?”
That itself is 100% true, the majority of Wikipedia’s branding DID come from SEO.
This fairly innovative approach to branding most likely will secure a position for Adaptive Glass in the New York City advertising agency market. Already their client list has secured several interesting firms. Everything from some of the largest nightclubs in the region to a few fortune 500 firms.
Not bad for a startup that has a strong focus using SEO as a branding tool.
The start-up advertising agency has offices outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New York City.

Apple : Your iTunes account has been hacked
June 7, 2011
Apple has been hacked, specifically iTunes. Several pages on Apple’s forums highlight the security flaw, with dozens of users blaming a Sega app called Kingdom Conquest for removing funds – even if they have never downloaded the game. Various other apps have also been blamed for draining accounts using a similar technique.
It’s unclear at this stage whether the action is the result of a widespread hack on iTunes or whether individual accounts have been hacked, but more consumers appear to be falling victim to the attack. According to PC Pro
The problem is that Apple refuses to admit the flaw, either it was a hack… or it is some super buggy code. The end result is many individuals are faced with a complete loss of their gift cards.
“My wife and I had our iTunes gift card credits stolen this week by in-app purchases,” posted Michael from Colorado. “Two purchases wiped out $22.98 in credit and the app had not been installed on any of our devices.
Reads one poster on Apple’s forum. Overall the amount stolen / drained appears to be in the millions of dollars and climbing. Individuals are seeing information vanish (such as their gift card balances and numbers) in the blink of an eye.
Others are saying that all these apps that they supposedly installed are not even on their devices.
Apple’s official stance? Silence.
There could be only 2 possible reasons this is happening.
1 - VERY buggy code.
2 - Hacked beyond belief.
Lately due to the sheer volume of hacks occurring, it appears to be that #2 is the valid option. Another one that leads to this is that recently Apple had to rush though and modify the inapp purchase system, a rush job like that always leads to some sort of bugs or massive security flaws.
iFail appears to be the word of the day.
