Aaron Wall shut down Threadwatch
June 29, 2007
We can’t believe it. Aaron actually disabled Threadwatch.
For now we have a few central locations that people could join.. however we already have a forum up and running that all Threadwatch members are welcome to join.
It’s not a long term solution, it’s a short time one until Aaron figures out what he needs to do.
Association of Search Engine Professionals.

Threadwatch is gone
June 29, 2007
We can’t believe it - We really can’t believe it. Aaron Wall shut down Threadwatch.
We don’t understand why. There was a line standing outside the door of people asking to take over the site. People just wanted to take over the site.
We do own a rudimentary forum that could help during this time, it’s AOSEP (Association of search engine professionals) and all Threadwatch members are welcome until we figure out what Aaron will do with Threadwatch.
Aaron, honestly we urge you to reconsider this.

Worst Press Release Ever : 100,000 Whores looking to get some

Who is their Ad Agency?
llicitEncounters.com, the world’s biggest extra marital dating website, has signed up its 100,000th UK member . A site spokesman told us “With membership soaring by a couple of thousand a week, IllicitEncounters.com is a clear indication that the 34% of married people having an affair - now choose to look for one online”. There are now more than 10,000 members in Scotland, 6,000 in Wales, 2,500 in Northern Ireland, 500 in Southern Ireland, 2,500 non-UK and the remaining 78,500 are in England. London, UK (PRWEB) June 27, 2007 — IllicitEncounters.com, the world’s biggest extra marital dating website, has signed up its 100,000th member.
| We’ve been trying to understand why people get so intent upon having an affair, but we believe it was summed up by one member in quite heart-rending fashion: ‘Imagine being in a loveless marriage that you can’t or won’t get out of - for whatever reason - and facing half of your life or more without intimacy or interest in your so-called life partner’ |
“More than 25,000 people have joined IllicitEncounters.com since the New Year — the growth has, quite frankly, been astonishing,” said a spokeswoman for IllicitEncounters.com
“On average, 220 people have joined the site every single day in 2007 — six times the rate during the same period in 2006.”
There are now more than 10,000 members in Scotland, 6,000 in Wales, 2,500 in Northern Ireland, 500 in Southern Ireland, 2,500 non-UK and the remaining 78,500 are in England.
“We’ve been trying to understand why people get so intent upon having an affair, but we believe it was summed up by one member in quite heart-rending fashion: ‘Imagine being in a loveless marriage that you can’t or won’t get out of - for whatever reason - and facing half of your life or more without intimacy or interest in your so-called life partner’,” said the spokeswoman.
“‘It doesn’t bear thinking about — and while it takes a long time to get into the mindset, you know an affair is the only way to preserve your sanity and self-esteem, and, in fact your marriage.’
“Put like that, the reality is that many people who have affairs are actually victims of circumstances rather than perpetrators of pain.
“Our research illustrates that around 35% of married or partnered people aged 20 to 60 already have a secret affair very much in mind — whether they’re in one, planning one or have had one.
“These are defined as affairs that the person in question sees as being part of an utterly secret life, not as something that will lead to the breaking up of a marriage or family.
“The range of reasons for having an affair is vast — some people know that time is passing, their relationship is dead or lacking, and that this is perhaps the best way for them to have a life while not upsetting others.
“The vast majority of members are normal people who are not getting from their partner what they need: that can be basic attention, a little romance, fun, travel, or, candidly, safe sex.”
IllicitEncounters.com’s 100,000 members are primarily from higher demographics, with company directors and owners, education, healthcare and government professionals figuring highly amongst the membership. Most have gone through further education, some to PhD level.
Males having or wanting an affair are most likely to come from London, the West Midlands, Essex, Hampshire, Lancashire, Surrey, Kent, West Yorkshire or Cheshire, while the least likely are from Northern Ireland, the Scottish Islands, the Scottish Borders, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight or Anglesey.
For females, the most likely are from London, the West Midlands, Surrey, Essex, Kent, Lancashire, Hampshire, Cheshire, West Yorkshire or Hertfordshire. The least likely are from Northern Ireland, Powys, Gwynedd, the Isle of Man and Scottish islands.
IllicitEncounters.com was established in 2003 in recognition of a rising demand for such a service.

Threadwatch - to shut down - notes Digg as a reason
June 26, 2007
Threadwatch is shutting down, and owner, Aaron Wall cited Digg as one of the reasons.
This story was initially submitted directly to Digg, however like most stories it got buried, and that is a shame.
The site boasted some key members, such as head engineer Matt Cutts and Adam Lasnik from Google. It was a magnet for all the internet marketing firms. In essence anyone that was anyone for the Internet Marketing space was a member of the site.
I myself moderated the website under the user name ‘The Founder’ as well as a few others, such as Graywolf , JasonD and several others in the industry.
How is Digg part of this?
The Digg Homepage
Automated community driven news sites further lessened the need for and value proposition of this site.
That is a direct quote from Aaron.
This is a shame, a real shame. We know that things change in life. Websites are born, grow, then die. But Threadwatch is one of the old timers. The sites that have been stable and people have counted on for years.
We will miss Threadwatch.

Microsoft’s Ad Agency pushes out worst ad ever
June 25, 2007
This has to be the worst ad ever created for a Microsoft Zune. The Worst..
In fact it is the worst. Our readers have voted this the worst ad ever created in the past 5 years. Enjoy.
The worst is the rumor mill is pointing out that Microsoft Executives ‘creamed their pants’ thinking this is on the same level as Wendy’s ‘Where’s the beef’ commercials.

New York Times : Google is gunning for an Ad Agency to buy
June 25, 2007
“Will one of these companies try to buy a big agency or a holding company next?†asked Bob Jeffrey, chief executive of JWT, part of WPP Group, referring to WPP, Omnicom, Interpublic and Publicis, the publicly traded companies that own most of the leading ad agencies.
No way.  Google already owns these firms.  If Omnicom wants to get any sort of results from a Search Engine Marketing Campaign , they are not going to dogpile to get it.  They have no choice but to go to Google. In essance, why would Google pay for the cow when the milk is free?
These Ad Agencies are lumbering giants that have as much mobility as an elephant in a ballerina suit. The chances that hyper quick Google, Yahoo or even MSN will purchase a company like that is slim to none. What could these Ad Agencies offer? All these Ad Agencies have no choice but to do with Google anyway. For example, Internet Spending is set to outpace print media, and Google virtually owns the Internet Spending Channel.  Google doesn’t go for declining industries.
These companies are still making Billboards, TV ads (and forget to post them on YouTube), buying Newspaper Ads and sending out press releases (by e-mail to random journalists because they don’t know how to get it on Google News).
What could Google want with that? Name one positive aspect they would have to shelling out a few billion to buy an Ad Agency that is already forced to deal with Google for their internet spends for their clients.
The point we are trying to make is that these agencies are already sending huge amounts of money to Google every day. They shouldn’t buy an ad agency now, because at current growth rates, they already own them.
Now that you have the facts, go on and read the wonderful article from the New York Times.

Unique Firm launches Employee Background Checks - Online and instant

Contact: Peter Melan

For Immediate Release
Local Company Launches Pre-Employment
June 25, 2007 — Easton, Pa. — Complete Background Solutions, LLC is pleased to announce the launch of its pre-employment screening service, iScreenU.com to the public. Developed with the end-user in mind, iScreenU.com is simple to use and in a matter of seconds, a job applicant is screened through a proprietary system of services. Incorporated in Easton in 2004, Complete Background Solutions, LLC provides services both in the Lehigh Valley, as well as to any business operating in the United States.
“As companies are deciding to provide screening services, most are not educated in the field and feel that providing a criminal background is simple,†said Peter Melan, owner. “Knowing how to interpret the report data and certain nuances about individual states is extremely important.â€
“Our target groups are companies who feel that screening their job applicants is important to provide a safe working environment,†Melan explained. â€We would like to build strong relationships with agencies that place temporary workers or hiring agencies. iScreenU.com was designed to help those companies who also have small budgets and could not previously afford to use an agency to screen their job applicants.â€
For example, a company knowing their job applicant lived in the state of Pennsylvania throughout their entire career could screen their job applicant for as little as $15, compared to the going rate of $40. The thought is to provide the most comprehensive information to customers at a reasonable price so that they are not discouraged to screen due to high costs.
One feature of the service is the ability to provide a history of residency to further validate any information written on the job application and recommend searches based on the results. An example would be living in Pennsylvania for only a year, but misstating previous address history on the application. Although this omission could be cause for rejecting the job applicant, reporting this information is valuable and could assist in the screening process.

“Currently, the site is able to provide criminal searches for the entire country, either using our nationwide search, instant state search, or individual county searches,†explained Melan. “ iScreenU.com will also be recommending packages based on the customer’s industry. An example would be for healthcare organizations where we would create a package that would include a statewide criminal search, sex offender registry, and an education or professional license verification.â€
Signing up for iScreenU.com is easy and costs absolutely nothing to become a customer. The process to become a customer can be found at http://www.iscreenu.com Within a few minutes, a company could start to screen job applicants and within a matter of seconds, the results will be available.
“After becoming a member, you are not only our customer and most valuable asset, you also become an integral part of our development team,†Melan added. “Our philosophy is that businesses can only succeed by building partnerships with each other. By making each customer a part of our team, our product becomes even stronger along with our customer service.â€

President Evil - Their Ad Agency messed up - Advertises ‘President Evil’ rather than ‘Resident Evil’
June 25, 2007
Fry’s Electronics made a spelling mistake advertising for the game Resident Evil 4… was it a mistake though or are they just trying to voice their opinion? It’s funny, but at the same time an Advertising Agency now has a political problem rather than a promotion problem.
This went though 200 reviews, then get’s plastered in the ads as ‘President Evil’ either the entire company is biased, or there are a bunch of idiots running around with Titles there.
