Honey, I’m just not that into Christmas

November 30, 2009

Honey, as much as I enjoy spending the holiday with you I have to say, I’m not just that into Christmas.

PIC-0570

Seriously anything that covers up the screen like that forcing me to shoot between the J and O in order to get to the target isn’t worth it. Decorations are one thing, covering up the screen is something else. I let myself get on the ladder to put up lights, I let you empty my bank account like like the Nile River going into the sea, I even let you go and send my electric bill up 20000% for the next 4-5 weeks to pay for enough lights to cover Philadelphia, but I refuse.. I repeat… I completely refuse to allow you to cover up Modern Warfare 2 … I draw the limits there. If you refuse to move those decorations, I will petition the game maker to introduce a Modern Warfare mod that allows me to shoot at Santa and his elves.

Merry Christmas.

ad agency Brown Fusion goes virtual

November 30, 2009

After five years as vice president of business development at Giant Ideas, Pittsburgh’s fifth-largest advertising agency, Dennis Brown left in June to start virtual agency Brown Fusion. The Pittsburgh Business Journal is reporting.

Things have changed so much due to this recession. Gold door handles at the 30,000 Square Foot office are being replaced with laptops on your living room recliner. Allowing companies to cut costs and yet continue to grow.

Honestly what digital ad agency needs a huge office space. I could understand perhaps HR being in a small office somewhere.. and perhaps a conference center.. but what else is needed? A Digital ad agency with a dozen people might need a tiny 500 sq/ft office with half of it being for HR (interviews and stuff) and the other half being a conference room. That’s really all that is needed. The majority of people working would be working from home.

I think it’s a good call, and clearly so does Dennis Brown.

That’s the right way to grow a company, not bankrupting ones self to project an image.. rather allocating assets to the actual work being done.

Enjoy the new economy.

This was the distasteful Image of Michelle Obama

November 25, 2009

Many of you were searching for the Michelle Obama image that was removed from Google. For historical purposes we will show you what the distasteful image was. In our opinion, the image didn’t belong #1 for her. It didn’t belong #100000 for her. Now having it removed from the index was overkill, because in our opinion.. it showed the detractors in the light they deserve to be shown as.. racists. You can click below to enlarge.

original

Notice what was #1 for her name in Google Image Search. Again, we don’t feel it needed to be removed, no matter how offensive the image was.. It said more about the people that posted it rather than a computer algorithm that happened to show it as #1.

We know how the image showed up there…. and it wasn’t Google’s fault.

Tracey Edwards ad agency shuts down - won’t pay bills

November 25, 2009

The Union Leader is reporting that ad agency Tracey Edwards has shut down. With an incredible note stating “Unfortunately, there will be no assets for distribution to unsecured creditors, like you,” the letter, addressed “To Whom It May Concern,” said.” and No bankruptcy filing is contemplated because there will be no assets for distribution to unsecured creditors, according to the letter.

Wow, In other words.. there is nothing left.. zilch.. nada.. zip.

This part however is the root of the problem. ““After 20 years and having a successful business and employing many people and doing exciting and great things for our clients, it’s just a sad sign of the times that small businesses are not able to get the support from the banking industry and government the way that larger businesses do,” Tracey said.”

Well there you have it people.

“As of the date of this letter, TEC owes TD Bank approximately $520,111,” the letter said. “The bank has a properly perfected security interest in all of TEC’s assets. Those assets consists of accounts receivable of approximately $102,000 and miscellaneous office equipment worth less than $20,000. There are no other assets.”

So the company is in the hole in or about $398,000 … and because of this 29 employees will lose their jobs.

So you know, $398,000 is less than the average bonus is at a taxpayer bailed out bank. A single individual at a failed bank is getting more than what this company needs to survive.

Little firms like this are the ones that needed the bailouts.. not the banks.

Enjoy the mess.

New Ad for Motorola Endeavor™ HX1 - NSFW

November 24, 2009

The guys and girls at ad agency Draft FCB made this one.. it’s classic. It’s about a wild party… This one isn’t exactly safe for work… The video is promoting the Motorola Endeavor .. We at Tribble do have a business relationship with Draft so we get to see videos sometimes before they get posted.. or right soon after… That being stated this one is freaking classic. I would have to stress that this is NSFW.

LOL! This one is one of the better ads I have seen come from Motorola in a while. The only reason my guess this isn’t on TV is due to the NSFW aspect.

I’ve been to parties like that before… well… not to that extreme.. If anyone s$it on my patio I would be highly upset.

Google partners with Ubuntu for Google Chrome OS

November 24, 2009

Pretty Crazy stuff, this might be the strongest alliance and biggest threat to Windows as the default desktop if this continues to proceed as planned. Google has partnered with Canonical the makers of Ubuntu according to a PC world report and this is going to be the biggest threat to Microsoft Advertising Agency Crispin, Porter + Bogusky.

Those “I’m a PC ads” aren’t going to hold water against that onslaught. Ubuntu is one of the most refined linux desktops every seen by mankind… and Ubuntu developers are working to make sure that Google Chrome will work… couple that with the Massive Muscle from the worlds largest advertising agency (That’s Google) and you have a nightmare that Microsoft will most likely see as an extreme threat.

What Google views as the future is wildly differing than what Microsoft does … it’s akin to the 1980′s on what Microsoft viewed as the desktop vs IBM.

Google feels that 99% of the people just use their computer to get online… hence Google OS / Chrome OS will allow them to get online, check their e-mail, go watch movies on Hulu, buy stuff on Amazon.com and update their facebook and use Google Docs for wordprocessing..

Whereas Microsoft feels that everyone wants to store everything on their local machine.. where it cant’ be reached from another machine.. and where people are happy to fork over hundreds of dollars for Microsoft Office and love to use non-standard compliant IE as their browser.

This is going to be one hell of a battle, mostly because we feel that the overall cost of marketing and advertising will be MUCH lower for Google than for Microsoft…. mostly because 1 text link on Google’s homepage is worth more than all the advertising ad agency Crispin, Porter + Bogusky could muster in a decade.

What’s at stake? Basically the future of computing… is it your desktop or the internet.. what do you view as more important… or better said.. if you had an “internet machine” that was half the cost of your normal computer… would you go for that option…
