BP : We’re a bunch of idiots
May 30, 2010
Honestly we’re going on a month and a half now, this thing has been raging for 40+ days now and the oil volcano hasn’t stopped spewing in the Gulf of Mexico.
BP’s new solution is to dump even more rubbish into the hole, they attempted the top kill method, that failed. We posted on May 11th that they were going to attempt the golf ball and used tire trick, well clearly the “top kill method” didn’t work, and we were told now that they ARE going to.
Want to know what I think the problem is? I think the problem is that BP just doesn’t care… because the oil is washing up on our shores and not theirs. “F-those Yanks, let them swim in the oil infested turned garbage dump” is pretty much what it appears the overall BP’s approach to fixing the problem is.
We should start seizing their assets to pay for this disaster, including the ones in London.
Why is it that 230 years ago we wouldn’t take any such action from the British, but now we allow them to dump trash and flood our waters and shores with disaster?
It’s a tiny cold rock that matters nothing in the global economy… yet they feel it fine to dump trash and oil on our country. I am done with them.

Miami Advertising Agency makes “Gringo Masks” to beat Arizona police
May 25, 2010
This is perhaps the best idea ever. Miami advertising agency Zubi Advertising, guarantees the cops won’t be stopping you or your loved ones after you put your best white face forward.
The masks can cover your face and allows you to travel as a white person rather than someone of color so you won’t be stopped by the Arizona police for being anything other than European decent.
Clearly driving with faces like that will allow you to go along your normal day without harassment of being pulled over every 10 minutes to show your Soviet Russia papers.
Enjoy the new reality.
This is a sad day in America when one is forced to wear a mask in order to make it without being pulled over.

Why TV is in trouble
May 20, 2010
The picture below explains why TV is in trouble. It also explains why Hulu and the record companies won’t allow the video site to be seen on a mobile device.
The problem at hand is that the average 5 year old doesn’t want to see TV like how their parents did, clearly he is watching youtube on the below video (displayed on a TV of course as we’re a family of geeks).
Let’s face it, most likely you watch more TV shows on Hulu than you actually watch on TV. I know I do…. so does this 5 year old pictured below.
Is TV in trouble? The answer is yes… it’s not the TV shows that are in trouble, it’s the format on how those TV shows are being delivered to the end user. I completely predict that within a few years some famous TV show that is literally internet only will have a wider audience than what would normally be reached via TV (as let’s face it, it’s easier to watch it on the computer).
The problem is computers only recently .. well.. TV’s only recently (past few years) became standardized with ways to hook them up to computers. So this is slow in the making.. but eventually you’ll see more and more individuals asking for an internet only plan from Comcast, and they are going to demand that that internet only plan is cheaper than the standard TV and Internet plan…. because honestly Comcast, we don’t want your TV.
As for mobile, well … let’s face it… it’s just wayyyy too convenient to watch anything you want.. whenever you want… right?

Non-Advertising — off topic Star Wars Rant
May 13, 2010
I just though this would show you guys a typical day at my home. When my 5 year old son has his friends over, this is what I must expect.
Clearly I was under attack, I had no choice but to run. I cannot defeat Commander Rex and Vader at the same time. So I did what any other unskilled Jedi would do, I ran. With these two on my tail I had to use every trick in the book. The Jedi mind trick didn’t work. The force wouldn’t push these two back.. I was on my own.
So snapped the picture and uploaded it. Clearly it shows you in detail the disaster unfolding before my eyes. It was an unstoppable force…
May the force be with you.

Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network : doctors making Sushi
May 12, 2010
In a unique cooking competition, colon-rectal surgeon Linda Lapos, M.D., recently squared off against cardiothoracic surgeon Ray Singer, M.D., in the kitchen of Saucon Valleys Komé restaurant. Each surgeon created a signature appetizer with some expert guidance from Komés chefs. Patrons voted for their favorite, with… Lapos appetizer winning. This unique charitable event raised $1,900, divided among Lehigh Valley Health Networks departments of colon-rectal surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Additional Sushi Surgeon battles will take place the last Tuesday of each month (the next is set for May 25, 2010), culminating with a final cook-off on July 27, 2010.
This is a great charity event that everyone is urged to attend and contribute to. The money goes to a good cause,
Having Surgeons as Sushi chefs most likely has the most skilled hands on the planet making the best sushi the world has ever seen!

BP : We’ll plug the oil well with garbage, use it like trash dump
May 11, 2010
British Petroleum (BP) is expected to try to plug the well using rubbish like tires and golf balls. (Literally that is the latest attempt) as per the BBC
That’s BP’s latest attempt, use the oil well as a garbage dump to try to plug the hole. As far as BP is concerned it’s a lost cause when they come up with ideas that literally are filled with garbage.
It’s not innovative, it’s complete BS to use this man made disaster as an official garbage dump.
Yes That will hold it, we plugged the hole!
This is unacceptable, Not even close to being acceptable. First BP goes out and floods the entire Gulf of Mexico with an oil slick, then they proceed to use it as a garbage dump.
There are not even words that could describe the mess that BP caused. They should be ashamed of themselves, What a staggering mess, not the environmental problems, the lack of brain power within the company.

What the European Crisis does to US Advertisers
May 11, 2010
The disaster occurring in Europe right now does and will affect the US advertising market. Let’s look at it from a very simplistic view, Publicis and WPP are both based in Europe, Publicis in particular is very close to the problem. This doesn’t matter generally speaking, but in reality it will matter (yes we already know that Omnicom will be doing the same, as they are generally in the same areas that the other holding companies are).
Europe is roughly 2 years behind the US in this economic crisis, we as Americans have already started a new asset bubble, started pumping resources into this and slowly within the next 4 years or so we might achieve normal employment levels. Europe however is still on a triple black diamond ski slope.
The Euro eventually will tank compared to the dollar, so they are going to be viewing the US market as something to “suck money out of” to help pay for ongoing deficits in Europe, That means that Publicis is going to be taking “more than normal” out of US operating profits to continue operations in Europe.
That means that US advertisers will be paying a higher rate than what would necessary be the case due to the higher rate of money transfer from the US to Europe. IE: if you are using Publicis or WPP, the chances are you are going to get highly screwed in the next few years.
In laymen’s terms let’s assume that the Publicis advertising agency wants to continue to fund an office somewhere in France, the office is no where near break even but of course they must really pay for those gold plated door handles, so what they will do is take money from New York to continue to fund the office in France until the office is finally self sufficient.
For this they will tax their US clients a few percentage points higher than what would normally be charged.
Enjoy the new reality.

EU offers New York City 1 trillion dollar bailout
May 10, 2010
11,306,183 … that’s the total population of Greece… or roughly the same as the New York Metro area. Literally it appears a city state needs a 1 trillion dollar bailout.
The bailout comes to $90,000 per every man, women and infant child in the entire country.
$90,000 dollars per person, every person. Every elderly individual, every college student, every baby with a pacifier.
The 1 trillion dollar bailout package for Greece is a mind boggling figure due to the fact that the population of the entire country is akin to just one American City.
So why the one trillion dollar bailout? Exactly how ugly are those Greek Accounting books? How could a series of tiny islands demand a 1 trillion dollar bailout?
Corruption is one, high taxes for the ones that pay is another, wasteful spending is another, the list goes on, to the tune of $90,000 dollars per person in the entire nation.
The mind staggering figure is pure madness. $90,000 per person, What type of entitlement programs do the Greeks have that would justify such a huge dollar figure? How were the Greeks servicing this incredible debt before? And the last question, what happens next when Spain, Portugal and Italy come out. All those countries have substantially higher populations, Using Greece as a standard, You would be looking at a 10 trillion dollar bailout, if not more. Basically more money than the EU has.
Enjoy the new reality.
For your enjoyment, it comes out to $353 789 per household (average of 4 per household) … every Greek citizen to get a brand new house…. sigh…
