Toyota blames Saatchi & Saatchi for offensive advertising

December 14, 2009

Way to go Ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi, if this doesn’t spark a review, nothing will. When your client has to blame you for such a crappy ad, then all is well right?

The below ad was targeted for Australia and posted on YouTube. The ad was deemed offensive by the majority of users. To the point where our sources confirmed that Google was receiving “flagged as offensive” on the Youtube page hosting the advertising.

This isn’t advertising people, this is garbage.

Toyota Australia today apologised for the inappropriate content and offence caused by a video submitted as part of a film competition to demonstrate social media credentials.

The video, posted on Youtube, was one of 32 entries into the film competition organised by advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi

Immediately upon receiving negative feedback, at Toyota’s direction, the video was removed from a third-party website on Sunday.

“Toyota understands and accepts that the content of the video was offensive.”

Don’t bother taking it down from Youtube Saatchi … we already have copies sent to us….

It's funny that Saatchi is now getting the bust for an ad they didn't even make.

They didn't “make the ad' but they were the ones that selected it … hence the hot water…

Got something to say?
