The Linkie Winkie Project and Tribble Ad Agency

July 4, 2006

The Monster of online Marketing is still going strong. Linkie Winkie is booming in terms of traffic as well as it’s viral campaign. We want to note that we are not affilated with Linkie Winkie but we know the owners well (And we must say we are big fans of them).

If you want to know the story on how Tribble Ad Agency and Linkie Winkie are affilated then here it is:

The owner of Tribble Ad Agency is a moderator at Search Guild as well as a few other SEO forums like Threadwatch. The owner of Search Guild is also the owner of Linkie Winkie. In short, we both know each other.

We both were launching experiments.  Linkie Winkie is a link building experiment, Tribble is a social engineering experiment (however both tend to do well across both platforms). We did launch at about the same time, but it was without any planning with each other, it just happened.

So Tribble Ad Agency decided to reverse engineer the Linkie Winkie Project to see how it works (it’s intresting to us) and at the same time, the guys / girls at continued to evaluate the progress of their project. So we know how the process works over there, and we are pretty certian that Gurtie and Chris know what we are trying to do here.

The point is, we are all friends and just having fun with our tests, it just happend that both tests are happening at the same time.

    Roger,

Apologies for conflating the two experiments – I posted about it soon after Gurtie told me that you were entirely separate.

I would obviously not make a detective – I simply looked at the circumstantial evidence and made 5.

I’ve been following the Linkie Winkie saga with great interest…fascinating stuff. Are Gurtie and Chris going to fill the rest of us in eventually concerning how the process actually works? I am quite ignorant about such things, so I have no hope of actually figuring this out on my own. :)

I also wanted to mention that your XHTML is slightly broken. Looks like you need a self-close on one of your images. I would have just emailed you about this, but I couldn’t find a working contact link.

Btw, I love your description (press release) of Tribble Ad Agency!

[...] From what we can tell, by giving a shout out to Linkie Winkie, they will in turn to give you a shout out. How it does this, is still a mystery, but one blog discusses the effect of Linkie Winkie, while the other provides a bit on who is behind the experiment. [...]
