Shady Industry : Ad Agency Owner Accused of Fraud
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The owner of a Springfield advertising agency is accused of stealing $500,000 in federal funds that was to pay for anti-drunken-driving billboards.
Robert Sullinger is the owner of Great Plains Group LLC of Springfield. The 59-year-old Sullinger was paid more than $1.5 million in federal grant funds to produce and post billboards and posters throughout Illinois.
The nine-count indictment charges Sullinger with submitting fraudulent invoices for the billboards from 1999 through 2004.
Sullinger also allegedly understated his profit margins for the billboards; tried to cover up the scheme by having billboard posters made after he had already billed the government for them; and lied to FBI agents during the investigation.
Sullinger has not commented on the charges against him.
What a load of garbage… this Agency was sending fake invoices and it took the FBI to haul him in order for him to actually penny up for the stuff he was invoicing them on.
What a shady industry…
