Steve Ballmer, did you ‘fucking kill Google’ yet?

February 3, 2010

Steve Ballmer, you know the guy that made this advertising agency quality TV ad.

Well About 1/2 a decade ago, a key individual defected from Microsoft to Google that lead to one heck of lawsuit. According to official documents, Steve said he was going to ‘fucking kill Google’ as he hurled a chair across the room. literally.

You’ll want to click to enlarge the image.

And a cut and paste of the Statement:

Prior to joining Google, I set up a meeting on or about November 11, 2004 with Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer to discuss my planned departure….At some point in the conversation Mr. Ballmer said: “Just tell me it’s not Google.” I told him it was Google.

At that point, Mr. Ballmer picked up a chair and threw it across the room hitting a table in his office. Mr. Ballmer then said: “Fucking Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy. I’m going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to fucking kill Google.” ….

Thereafter, Mr. Ballmer resumed trying to persuade me to stay….Among other things, Mr. Ballmer told me that “Google’s not a real company. It’s a house of cards.”

We were just wondering Mr. Ballmer, did you ‘fucking kill Google’ yet? We figured 1/2 a decade has passed now and we were just wondering the status of it.

Now we never met Eric Schmidt, so I can’t tell you if he’s a “fucking pussy” but we never understood the term anyway? Are you talking about cats mating?

Regardless, we just wanted to know the status of the “house of cards” company called Google. Is it still around?

They are bleeding money everywhere (what's the tally on how many billions XBOX has lost so far? 6? 8 BILLION?) and their two cash cows are not what they once where.

Online collaborative apps from Zoho and Google (ex-Writely) and others will be taking more and more as online apps get more and more popular and free (as in gratis) alternatives like OpenOffice give the overwhelming majority of people a great and cheap option. The ODF format acceptance by governments around the world is another blow to the company whose sole selling point is their control over their .doc format.

And the Vista debacle and resulting rush to ship Vista 7 has highlighted Microsoft's image as it is now. The ongoing and never ending bad Windows security which lead to all the Cornflickers of the world will never go away. Redmond admits it themselves.
In the meanwhile, the Linux desktops have now arrived at parity (and because of the quick release model should surpass quickly others who release new features only when its time for a paying update of the OS) with the others and along with Apple's niche products have shown that live is possible with Windows and its associated diseases and virus it attracts.

Netbooks running on the cloud (god thats annoying to say!) and smartphones are taking people further and further from the PC model as we access the net in different ways.

I could go on and on but others have done it much better many times before.

Bottom line, its not a good time to be at Microsoft and the feature looks bleak.
Not bleak as in disappear but Redmond will never be the ubiquitous computer company it once was. Its shoddy OS has along with its failed/failing side projects have damaged the company as has the never ending virus situation too. It now will strictly rely on backroom shenanigans and dirty tricks to further their cause.
I mean this by itself is no surprise. Anyone who has spent a few minutes reading the details of the Comes vs Microsoft case and all the accompanying internal memos knows very well how things are done at MS and all those things that many claimed Microsoft did but were often poohpoohed for saying.. guess what? In reality, they are a lot worse than even most pessimists thought. But now as more and more Microsoft heads are leaving, Redmond is getting more traction as huge amounts of its ex employees are running important organizations.
That's the one area that things are going well.

I can understand Ballmer. He will be known as the guy responsible for all of this when he leaves because he was the guy in charge. And considering Microsoft have screwed as many partners as they have enemies, few will shed a tear.

As a Red Hat server user, I am one of those Ballmer threathened about 2 years ago when he said that Red Hat users owe Microsoft money because Linux has lots of MS stolen IP ( he also reminds in the famous youtube video that Novell has the legal Linux because they paid the extortion fee so F U to Novell which is sinking even faster. You can tell the glee in my tone I hope.)

So yeah, I take Ballmer's threats personally.
I dont like threats nor extortions which is why I will be buying shots all day when Ballmer gets fired.
Unless he ruins if for all of us and quits (for personal reasons) beforehand.
In which case Im only buying beer.
