UNKNOWN*** royally screws up — get’s thrown on main page of Digg

November 16, 2008

EDIT RETRACTION: We initially thought this was the work of CP+B … however it appears it was NOT their work.. (though they do work for Microsoft, it appears it’s limited to other areas) … What agency did this work?

This is bad considering it’s currently on the main page of Digg. .. Some Agency has Microsoft Windows Vista promotional ads.. well.. displaying Apple Notebooks and PlayStation joysticks.. Good Job whoever this firm is…

We know many of you don’t feel this is a big deal, as with Enfatico using Apple Machines for Dell’s account… but this… this is amazing stuff…

I work at Crispin. We don't do Microsoft promotional material like that. Sorry.
  • Well... technically... it *could* be Microsoft SOFTWARE...

    Oh, who am I kidding...
  • maurer
That you think these are ads, let alone ads that CPB would conceive, fucking blows my mind.

This is exactly the kind of crap that gets produced by people who think SEO will replace branding.

I fart in your general direction.
  • Maurer and Andy,

Answer this then... are you guys the Agency of Record for Microsoft? And since we all have all seen your Jerry Seinfeld / Bill Gates ads... this appears to be right up your ally....

Keep farting in our general direction.. because it looks like all you guys are doing is playing "pull my finger" with Microsoft's money.....

And it looks like we are not the only ones that think that... George Parker is right along those lines as well.

You bore me. So desperate to always slam CP+B, while they just picked up another (Zune) account without a review. Those who can do. Those who can't blog -- and bitch about those who do.
  • Tessa... you're bragging about a Zune account.....
  • Tessa Stewart
...and you're bragging about George Parker. Seriously?
  • Look.. i'll tell you this.. George Parker is one of the most experienced Advertising professionals out there... he's been doing ads most likely before you were born... (the guy is 71 years old).

Yes his blog is rough around the edges... and yes..it's obscenity laced.. but does that make it not truthful? You know damm well he is right.

I'll take Parker's advice ... because 99% of the time.. it's the right advice.

CP+B is not the AOR for Microsoft. Their AOR is McCann Erickson. CP+B is working on a global consumer focused project and now work for Zune.

    Per Adweek articles:
$300 Mil. Microsoft Project Goes to Crispin

    Crispin Adds Microsoft's Zune

  • I will correct the story then.... so who made those ads? McCann Erickson?

Someone had to have oversight on this... what company was it?
  • Clueless
Wow you guys are morons. Why would you ever assume this was made by ANY agency? It's a promotional pamphlet.

The first prerequisite for blogging about advertising ought to be that you can actually recognize it when you see it.
  • We've seen plenty of ads.... it's why it's so believable.... when you start peddling your book trying to get a job during this recession... I bet you'll find a handful of ads that look like that.

It's not a slam on you personally... it's more of a general statement... it's that I can show you 200 ads that look just like this.. and are made by BDA's across the country.

Here's an WPP / Enfatico ad made 2 months ago that looks just like this one.
