#twitteRFP — Ad Agency RFP’s via Twitter

April 26, 2009

This is classic! I had to even “apply” Jordan Kretchmer for CurrentTV floated out an Advertising Agency RFP via Twitter! You have to see how this is going via his Twitter Username @Jkretch.

The funny thing about it is that it actually looks viable, in terms of agencies applying it took a bunch of them off guard… and it appears that is the reason why he floated it that way. They brag about their social media skills, yet cannot even get a simple ping to Jordan via Twitter. Perfect.. absolutely perfect!

Jordan, I had to put this up on Google News for you, because the way you went about this was perfect… I suspect that you are going to see a bunch of really big dumb agencies applying with 3 followers because they setup the account yesterday… meaning they have zero understanding of social media…

I wish all firms floated their RFP via Twitter, it’s the best way to do it…. it really in 140 characters tells the company what your firm can do… I’m telling you, the slick sales guys must be going crazy with this one. BTW Jordan, if you are reading this, and I suspect you are… count Yooter InterActive in….

EA - Send me the games — I think I’m the 1,000,000th

April 16, 2009

Edit : Hopes Dashed, it appears it was Mike Satre @sinnersatre100 as the winner…

And here is his Twitter Account …

EA offered to send me all sorts of games if I am the 1 millionth follower of Ashton Kutcher, well I stayed up all night.. and timed it right…. massive lag on the twitter site… so there is a small margin of error.. and yes he beat CNN!

I hit submit on the first screen shot, then waited at the overwhelmed Twitter server about 20 seconds or so, I hit refresh again and took the second screenshot.

It appears I am within the proper timeframe… so let’s see if I won or not.. it appears that I have a damm good chance.. considering the lag on the second screen… the chances are I timed it to within seconds.. if not spot on…..

If I’m wrong and missed it by a few people .. then I missed it … and good luck to the winner :)

Twitter to be bought by Google tomorrow

April 16, 2009

Evan Williams just announced that Google will be purchasing Twitter (in a round about fashion) … below is the tweet.
Tomorrow just became a very big day. (Sorry for the teaser — more later.) Evan Williams from Twitter

EDIT:
Ok clearly I was looking into this too much… His next tweet came in

Yes, the “big day” tomorrow is due to @Oprah. Catch @aplusk on the show (and follow him if you don’t already!) Oh: I’ll be there too!

what a letdown!

Ashton Kutcher, CNN, Twitter and Billboards?? WTF?

April 16, 2009

Tribble Ad Agency Exclusive : I had the liberty of driving past a billboard promoting the Ashton Kutcher vs CNN twitter contest … in Pottsville, Pennsylvania ?? .. and a paid one at that.. and I filmed the thing with my cell phone camera.

Is the CNN vs Ashton Kutcher Twitter Contest worth it? That Billboard alone goes for roughly $2,000/month.. with a minimum of a 3 month contract according to the billboard owner.

uhh… Did I win??

How much did CNN pay for their Twitter feed?

April 15, 2009

CNN is reporting that they paid for a twitter feed! In a development unrelated to Kutcher’s challenge, CNN acquired the rights to the Twitter account from Cox this week, said Martin, who would not disclose terms of the deal.

That’s hot stuff, get a mass following by setting up a twitter feed for a media company, a few months down the road they will buy it from you! It’s a new growth industry! …. ha! Parker you owe me cash!

First Recorded firing by Twitter!?!

April 8, 2009

It appears that the Doner Advertising Agency layoffs (if truthful) will be the first mass layoff announcement using Twitter… a few minutes ago we reported that Twitter feed @adagencylayoffs had a quick post regarding layoffs at the advertising agency… but this is where it becomes weird.

Within minutes we got feedback from an individual at Doner stating “WTF, I didn’t realize I was going to hear about me losing my job via Twitter” The individual was baffled… he didn’t hear about the layoffs.. nor got any notice.

This is pretty amazing stuff, and scary when you think about it. Regardless it’s spreading like wildfire now… Enjoy the recession…. it’s ugly.

Now a TWITTER based ad agency!

April 8, 2009

The woman behind some of the twitter marketing of ‘Mad Men’, is now working to build a Twitter-based advertising agency for media companies according to Brand Republic

Let’s get this right, a Twitter only based advertising agency! Freaking hot! What makes it hot is that brand republic is reporting this as news. Twitter is a great advertising method, agreed… but a Twitter only ad agency… “hey we’ll post on Twitter for you” …. you need a blog, getting popular on Digg… you need SEO, SEM … you need a functional website…

Not just Twitter… twitter is an RSS feed for humans.. there are far more components to an online campaign than just a twitter only advertising agency.

We are one of the firms that pioneered Twitter for advertising… but I would never suggest that as the only advertising avenue….the world has gone mad.

Google to buy Twitter

April 3, 2009

Over the past few days there have been rampant rumors that Google may buy Twitter. Our sources have put that from a “rumor” to a near definite … and a deal is in the works.

Google wants to unleash mobile ads though it, and due to Twitter’s lack of revenue model, this is the only way for both companies to profit.

Story is developing, but overall it’s a game over, they are talking…. and in fact the biggest discussion is how to do a proper changeover. Google is holding the Youtube purchase as how they can buy and still grow an established site.

Twitter does not have many other options, as Twitter has no source of revenue and is having a hard time selling themselves to other firms. This is a classic point of Google seeing Gold when others see mud.

Google backing twitter is perhaps the key entry into the mobile market.

Obama asks “no revenue model” Twitter for financial Advice

March 6, 2009

This has to be the joke of the century. Twitter, the company lambasted by critics as having no revenue model has been invited to the Whitehouse for Economic Advice. Ev Williams literally is heading to the Whitehouse now.

We are not kidding (look at the screenshot below) and we are flabbergasted. This is the WRONG company to invite for economic advice. This is a disaster of epic proportions. Ask Google… don’t ask Twitter.

Ev himself stated in a Twitter post “[this] must mean they’re *really* out of ideas.”

Wow… and scary wow…
