Microsoft and Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Hire Jerry Seinfeld for $10 million to bash Apple

August 21, 2008

Jerry Seinfeld will be paid 10 million to bash Apple with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates

The campaign is due to debut Sept. 4, and is being produced by advertising agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky … If they think Jerry Seinfeld will fix their image.. they got another thing coming.

The apple commercials are not great because they changed public opinion, they are great because they followed public opinion.

Edit : We had Apples agency as the headline by accident for a short period of time…

New Plan for TBWA \ Chiat \ Day - Greenwashing Apple Computers

August 4, 2008

Sometimes stories like this are just comical. Jake on B|Net found this gem regarding how TBWA \ Chiat \ Day has been greenwashing Apple Computers, the title of the article “Apple Computers: Fun for You, Toxic for the Environment” says it all. The Article accuses Apple of simply doing the minimum in terms of complying with environmental laws… not exactly “green” .

To date, Apple has done only what is legally required. They are in compliance with RoHS standards (“the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment”), which were put in place in the European Union in July 2006. Pressure from environmental groups like the Computer Take Back Campaign combined with changing legal standards forced Apple to come up with a recycling program that at least looked like it was green — but that’s about it.

Apple claims that they are “not making green” part of their advertising plan, however they stumble when this Apple URL was presented to them : http://www.apple.com/environment

It appears Steve Jobs got a “have your cake and eat it too free pass” and what we find even more outrageous is that is that TBWA \ Chiat \ Day got the mega free pass on this as well…

amazing stuff.

It ‘doesn’t matter’ that Enfatico used Dell’s money to buy Apple Computers

August 2, 2008

It appears that it doesn’t matter that the Advertising Agency WPP group plc Enfatico used Dell’s money to buy Apple Computers according to a post on Adscam. Why you might ask?

Guys, who the f*** cares - you’re all missing the point. No ads have been created yet so it doesn’t matter what they are using to produce

Classic.

And the big problem, We wouldn’t be surprised if WPP loses the contract in 850 days, 14 hours, 11 minutes, 26 seconds.

Ad Agency Enfatico uses Dell’s Money to buy Apples

July 30, 2008

This has to be the story of the century. Enfatico has been using Dell’s money to buy Apples. We had a leaked e-mail from our friends at Agency Spy (they got the initial lead, and have been working on overdrive trying to verify it.. and it has appeared to be verified.)

This is the leaked e-mail in full (we have removed the contact name):

Amidst the recent news* about Enfatico’s trouble getting off the ground, Dell resigning former ad agencies to pick up the slack, Mother’s pretty good new TV spots for Dell and Enfatico’s recent 10-year lease for 100,000 square feet in Manhattan, it seems like there’s been enough disappointing news for the new agency folks in Austin. But think again.

Multiple sources at Enfatico say that in preparation for Michael Dell’s recent visit to the agency, employees were under orders to get rid of their Macs– replacing them with Dell monitors, keyboards, etc. Did Dell Procurement forget to insert the equipment usage clause into their contract or did Enfatico misread the fine print?

We don’t even know where to start with this… The Advertising Agency Enfatico was created solely for Dell. If Michael Dell knew that his money was being used to buy Apples………

Advertising Agency JWT to launch Negative Campaign for Microsoft targeting Apple, Linux

July 10, 2008

For about 1/2 a decade now Apple’s “I’m a Mac” ad campaign that has taken some good pot-shots at Windows and other Microsoft products, Microsoft is preparing to fight back, with a negative campaign of its own.

It will be run by JWT and rumors have started flying regarding it’s primary target Apple, but a shocker to many.. Linux…. in focus Ubuntu Linux was supposedly one of the targets of this new campaign. For years Microsoft just ignored the OS… and the ‘geeks who use it’ … but it appears as Apple and Linux are both making drastic inroads in the desktop market… Microsoft now feels that a negative campaign is a valid strategy….

Apples will be supposedly targeted regarding how expensive they are… and for Linux.. ‘ease of use’ …

An insider (that refused to go on the record) stated “terminal” for Linux and “empty wallets” for Apple were supposedly the themes…

Few sources are now talking about it…

Media Two lands Microsoft for Mac - and an Apology to AKQA

June 10, 2008

A two part post : Media Two Interactive was chosen by Microsoft to develop display creative for the release of Office 2008 for Mac. — developing…

Also an apology to AKQA for blaming them for building the McDonald’s site happymeal.com … though we do find it interesting that AKQA as McDonald’s digital agency of record didn’t know who built the digital property happymeal.com .. as promised I would apologize if they didn’t build it.. and evidently they didn’t…

The double thread is here and here (the latter link being the initial one)

In fact the agency that built the “not made for mobile” happymeal.com was Creata (www.creata.com)

The famous Steve Ballmer presentation laptop made by Apple

April 28, 2008

Evidently this photograph is making it’s rounds.. it was supposedly snapped during a Microsoft presentation… most of the graphic artists are stating that is appears NOT to have been manipulated via Photo Shop, Gimp, Fireworks or any other standard image program. In short people, this appears to be legit. No amount of work via an Advertising Agency or PR firm can fix this mess…
