EU uses Intel and Microsoft for Revenue via Fines
May 13, 2009
Intel has to pay the $1.45 billion dollar fine within three months, the Commission said, adding that the money would go to the EU’s central budget, “thus reducing the contributions that Member States pay to the EU.” CNET reported
The EU’s stimulus package is fining US companies? Germany and and other EU nations have been hesitant on using their own revenue to fund a stimulus package, but now they found a new source! American companies!
Clearly the EU Anti-Trust suit is aimed squarely at foreign companies to bankroll the EU’s dwindling account balances.
This is not the proper way to raise revenue…. what’s next? Apple’s iphone marketshare is too big?
Apple reports revenue of $8.16 billion - beats estimates
April 22, 2009
Apple Inc. reports earnings of $1.33 a share and revenue of $8.16 billion. Both measures beat Wall Street estimates.
Sales have been helped by the iPhone, iTunes and increasing market share of personal computers now pegged at the double digits, at the expense of Microsoft Windows powered machine. Also worth noting is that Linux machines have been making severe inroads into the netbook level computers, further fragmenting the OS market.
Story is developing…. CNN is working on a longer version
Apple’s Steve Jobs on Medical Leave — BREAKING
January 14, 2009
Apple Computers Steve Jobs is on Medical Leave citing that his health problems are worse than he expected. Apple’s chief operating officer, Tim Cook, will take over Jobs’ responsibilities while he is on leave.
Prayers go out to Steve and his family, we wish him a speedy recovery.
We suspected he was in bad health due to his admission last week of a hormone deficiency and apparent photos of him plastered on the drudgereport, but this is actually his own self admission. Actually a big part of the healing process.
Apple Pushes out new “green” ads
November 25, 2008
Apple now is pushing their new “green theme” Macbooks…. this is getting outrageous… this theme is just being abused…
Apple’s Advertising Budget is exposed - it’s 1/3 the size of Microsoft’s Ad budget
November 24, 2008
It appears that Apple’s Advertising budget is on page 62 from the SEC.gov’s website.. Advertising costs are expensed as incurred. Advertising expense was $486 million, $467 million, and $338 million for 2008, 2007, and 2006, respectively for Apple Computers.
How does this compare to Microsoft? Page 5 on the SEC.Gov’s Website states that Microsoft’s Advertising expense was $1.2 billion, $1.3 billion, and $1.2 billion in fiscal years 2008, 2007, and 2006, respectively. Meaning that Microsoft’s advertising budget is much more massive than Apple Computer Inc, about 3 times the advertising budget.
B|Net is arguing that Apple is using their ad budget much more effectively and that might be the truth… but the report on Media Bistro is wrong. We love Matt over there.. but he does need a calculator.
Microsoft outspends Apple on a 3:1 basis for Advertising.. period.
UNKNOWN*** royally screws up — get’s thrown on main page of Digg
November 16, 2008
EDIT RETRACTION: We initially thought this was the work of CP+B … however it appears it was NOT their work.. (though they do work for Microsoft, it appears it’s limited to other areas) … What agency did this work?
This is bad considering it’s currently on the main page of Digg. .. Some Agency has Microsoft Windows Vista promotional ads.. well.. displaying Apple Notebooks and PlayStation joysticks.. Good Job whoever this firm is…
We know many of you don’t feel this is a big deal, as with Enfatico using Apple Machines for Dell’s account… but this… this is amazing stuff…
Google Puts Advertising for the The G1 Android phone on main page
October 22, 2008
On the main page of Google, Google is advertising the G1 Phone
New! The G1 is on sale now. Learn about the phone.
Some of the early reports are stating that the Android powered phone is an unpolished, yet functional phone that does have the potential to overtake the Apple iPhone in terms of following. The open source approach that Google has taken with the phone is what is making it so alluring to many individuals.
Let’s see how this plays out in the market place over the next 2 years.
Google Inc.’s Android to take 4% marketshare - robbing from Apple’s iPhone
September 22, 2008
Google Inc.’s Android mobile operating system will account for 4 percent of all fourth quarter smartphone sales in the U.S., according to estimates by Strategy Analytics. Full Story
Apple must be shaking in their boots, the phone is completely opensource. Don’t believe us, go ahead and download all code you want!
This means that ANYONE can build whatever app you want… and developers can make anything they want… literally ANYTHING they want…
So much for the Jesus phone…
Microsoft and Dell Ads being created on iMacs
September 21, 2008
It’s no adverting agency industry secret, both Microsoft Ads by CP+B and Dell ads by Enfatico are being created on Apple Computer iMacs… We raised a stink here regarding it.. and CP+B rushed to defend in the post. As well as Enfatico’s iMac problem as well (the Enfatico problem is even worse, considering they used Dell’s money to buy the iMac’s).
This of course was picked up by Industry Vet, George Parker, that launched a scathing attack on not respecting the client.
The point is, if the client is paying to keep the lights on, perhaps some respect is needed regarding using their products.
How can you support a product if you don’t have your advertising agency use them to create the ads in the first place?
This story appears to be developing… What miffs us the most is that in the Enfatico case, they were not limited to Vista… they had an Ubuntu option… that they didn’t take.
So on face value, it appears that both Microsoft and Dell are paying to make ads for Apple Computers… pretty amazing stuff.
Want Proof? Some guy even looked into the files… and found Apple all over it.
Crispin Porter & Bogusky to dump all Apple Computers
August 21, 2008
Perhaps Crispin Porter & Bogusky took note from the Enfatico Disaster ..
Sacks then asked if CP&B plans to force employees off their Macs now that it’s Microsoft’s agency. Rob Reilly, Bogusky’s executive on the Microsoft account, answered: “It’s not a matter of forcing people. It’s getting them to want to use it. If you can’t, you’re not going to do great advertising.”
Funny thing… we don’t even own many Apple or Windows machines… Linux all the way… no wonder we never fit in… even though there is a perfectly free.. and powerful Distro that can handle all their needs.
