We were reading the thread on Agency Spy.
We don’t know what to think about it. Maybe they feel that the Internet isn’t a valid marketing tool… maybe it’s just a fad… But when we found comments like this:
tribble needs to get over his google obsession. it doesn’t matter whether wk pops up under ad agency or not.
and then this:

Perhaps not, but we get the contracts to fix your mistakes when you design sites or when your million dollar PPC budget falls flat on it’s face. Mostly because Advertising Agencies have no idea how to market their client online using search engine optimization, or have no true concept of social media or it’s many disciplines.
The addiction to flash in your industry is akin to a crack addict looking for heroin… and pushes out the same ROI as that crack addict… a quick fix from billable hours..
So from your comments we are assuming that you don’t care about the clients ROI.. it’s all about billable hours… and of course you can milk them more for PPC / flash site and newspaper ads than for SEO right? Even though you could easily rank for those terms if you had the proper skill-set within the Advertising Agency… but you don’t… so your goal is to attack what your agency doesn’t understand.
I applaud W+K for taking the effort, the only problem is they pulled a PPC guy rather than an SEO guy to build it …. the mindset is still not exactly what they need BUT it’s still at least an effort… and I am sure that he will do a good job.
You know what your problem is? It’s not the flashy site, it’s not the huge PPC budget, it’s actually designing a site so people can find it… and putting content on that site to make it worth while to find… It’s where the traditional agencies fail… and honestly it’s a dangerous situation for your agency.
The chances are that our ROI will be higher than what you were doing for them. We have seen some fortune 1000 firms dump you guys (ad agencies) and go totally online using a mix of social media, SEO and viral …. and evidently they are happy with the new ROI as compared to the money pit you guys had them in… and in case you didn’t notice… in a recession… it’s all about ROI.
Bash us.. Bash our ideas.. we really don’t care… at the end you are going have to share your client with us or a firm like ours… because our concept of marketing makes more financial sense then yours does.
Of course you could adopt the very concepts you are bashing….. but in that case.. we won as well… as this is the entire purpose of Tribble Agency.
