This might be the game changer. Lockbreaker went live on the Android platform late last night. The game is an experimental (BETA) GPS powered “video game” that could revolutionize mobile gaming and advertising.
The game is highly addictive, and social enabled (you play with either Facebook or Twitter) it pits players against players forcing them to try to crack each others codes in order to gain gold coins. Those gold coins then could be used to open advertiser prize boxes, which have things such as iPads and free beer at the local bar inside.
The funny thing about the game is that the ROI for advertising is much higher than what would be achieved with any normal marketing, as some early adopters have literally seen people walk in off the street because they won something as small as a free beer at the bar, and spend $50 dollars while there.
The mobile GPS enabled game theoretically allows Dunkin’ Donuts to launch an advertising campaign INSIDE of Starbucks. Which is raising chaos with some in the mobile advertising business. It’s a highly disruptive, and is dominating the central Pennsylvania region (where the game started) for mobile advertising.
There is an iPhone app in development, (click here if you are on an iphone or other device) it takes you to a webapp install screen. Android users can download the app directly here.
