InterActive Marketing firm launches new division.

March 20, 2008

Dozens of request for quotes started floating recently for managed hosting on far flung parts of the country. fairly powerful machines, all Linux and FreeBSD based. The sheer volume of infrastructure raised eyebrows.

It is a fairly robust system being built.. so of course some were wondering what are they building? Why such a massive infrastructure? The system being built was on par with what would be a large enterprise class.. complete with multiple fail overs in differing areas of the country.

Then came an official blog post regarding what’s up their sleeve.

Pretty cool, DNS hosting , and a robust system to say the least. It’s designed to have extreme fail over. Meaning multiple servers have to go down at the exact same moment in differing areas of the country. Evidently they started signing clients even before the infrastructure was complete.

Then came the advertising agencies, several ad agencies signed up with their clients for DNS services to ensure that their marketing campaign for their clients does not crash due to a DNS failure. The cost was low for backup and primary DNS services and for a few bucks a month it’s worth the insurance policy.

Supposedly it’s the most robust DNS hosting system available, many strong servers located in differing areas of the country for complete fail over.
