MSNBC / Entrepreneur.com Article : ‘marketing with the pros’ voted worst information yet
March 3, 2008
We are kidding, well sort of.
This article titled ‘marketing with the pros’ from MSNBC and entrepreneur.com is perhaps the worst piece of advice we have ever seen on-line from a MSM outlet.
Here is our problem with it, there is nothing to it.. zilch.. nada…
“Here are four types of marketing support you can tap to help build your business” the article states.
huh?
4 types? Marketing Communications Agency, Copy and Design Team, Media Buying Service or Broker, Marketing Coach
Really? these are the four types?
No where in this article does it state you need to rank well in the search engines, no where does it tell you that you need someone to put the article in a valid CMS system so you can easily input data to it … such as WordPress, Drupal, or whatever your needs are.
The point is that it is missing one of the larger components to marketing online, search engine optimization. The fact that you are reading this post states something. It’s ranked well, you searched for it (or found it via a social media site) and bingo… we marketed the resource.
We decided to reorder the list for MSNBC and Entrepreneur.com to give it some more credibility.
“Here are four types of marketing support you can tap to help build your business” (sorry still laughing)
1 - You need someone that understands Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so people will find the content that your copywriter puts on your site. Your search engine optimization team leader should have final sign off on the platform you choose and the CMS system you use, after all the entire project is worthless if the CMS system doesn’t rank well and no one finds your site, you need to make sure that your SEO team leader is on top of the marketing communication agency as well, because the last thing you need is to pay for the communication agency fees for the rest of your natural born life. Oh one last thing, the article states that you need a marketing consultant… the retort we ask… how do you think the SEO team leader got into the SEO business in the first place?
