JWT : We don’t use Meta Tags
December 16, 2009
Not sure what to think about this. We were just looking around at some search engine rankings of some ad agencies, and we stumbled upon JWT for a search query. We just wanted to offer them some friendly advice. If anyone at JWT wants to know why their Google listing looks like an advertisement for adobe flash player 7
It’s because of the lack of use of a Meta-Description tag.
The non-existent tag on their site should read “JWT is a full service advertising agency that services many industries on a national and international scale” or something along those lines.
Now the site is even worse when viewed in a Google Text Cache:
The fact that anyone can run a business under those conditions is amazing to say the least or that JWT has no one on staff that will point out glaring errors (such as lack of metas, or worse… lack of all things text).
To make matters worse, on most mobile devices the website displays as it does in a Google Text based cache… IE: download flash… in other words it’s completely unusable, and this is our problem overall with the larger ad agencies.
They either are not creative enough to understand that their website could be used in multiple ways, or they don’t have the technical understanding of how a website needs to be built.
I know I’m wasting my breath on this, it doesn’t matter… even if 50% of their clients hired an SEO firm so their site doesn’t turn out like JWT’s it wouldn’t matter.. I guess that is the difference between a big ad agency, and one that was started after the word “mail me” meant e-mail, not a stamp and a non-eco friendly chopped down tree.
/ end rant.
