Independent might float an Ad Agency RFP
Among the quality newspapers The Times added to News International’s woes with a large slip of 3.4 per cent to 615,313. New editor James Harding took the mantle in mid-December so has not yet had time to make his presence felt. The Independent dropped 2.15 per cent to 228,400 and the industry is waiting to see if a yet to be appointed advertising agency will help turn things around. The Guardian fell 0.94 per cent to 353,436 and the daily telegraph 1.06 per cent to 873,523.
The problem is bigger than what an agency can solve.. the problem is industry wide…. it’s not an image problem.. or a branding problem.. it’s an Internet problem.. People don’t like to read 2 day old news that they read on Drudge Report or Sqlspace.Com on a inky delivered in a puddle of mud piece of paper.
