Forbes : Blu-Ray might win the battle, lose the war

Forbes Magazine argues that by the time Blu-Ray and HD-DVD sort this out, even with a predicted ’sudden collapse’ of HD-DVD … it might already be too late. People are downloading HD Movies right and left legally from companies like Apple or Comcast On-Demand.. In essence the standard might already be outdated.

Many people haven’t purchased a DVD, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray in years, mostly because they hit the on-demand button on their Comcast remote and watch their HD movies on their flat panel without taking their slippers off.

That isn’t to say that there are not plenty of HD-DVD fans out there, but the argument stands that both Blu-Ray backers and HD-DVD backers are both fighting a losing battle against a technologically superior format, downloading.
