One of Google’s 20% projects yielded a bot that translates in real time anything you IM it.
It’s the written version of the Universal translator.
We tested it with several languages, all of them worked pretty effectively. It’s not 100% perfect, but it does get the idea across. The kicker is that it’s a 20% project.
Google allocates 20% of each workday to anything the employee wants to build. In this case, one of the 20% projects was a universal translator for Google Talk.
