Toyota to fire all their Advertising Agencies - Going In-House

August 4, 2009

It appears that Toyota is set on firing everyone, all their ad agencies… every single one of them. In turn they will be creating their own in-house advertising agency to handle the work.

A grand total of 250 employees will be hired to run their advertising needs, and the dozens of other agencies that currently service the account will most likely be fired.

This is the model that Dell would have been better served than via Enfatico and WPP group plc.

Tokyo — TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces that, to enhance its marketing efforts, it will establish a company that will primarily handle marketing within Japan (hereinafter: “new domestic marketing company”), and a company to carry out and assist global marketing as well as coordinate and assist the marketing activities of TMC affiliates (hereinafter “new marketing assistance and coordination company”). The companies will be established later this year and begin operations on January 1, 2010.

The new domestic marketing company is being established as the matrix for promotional functions within TMC’s Japan Sales Operations Group, while the new marketing assistance and coordination company will be the matrix for providing assistance for the marketing efforts of TMC’s Operation Planning & Support Group, which is tasked with marketing outside Japan. The new marketing assistance and coordination company will handle the marketing coordination and assistance for its 100% subsidiaries, which will include the new domestic marketing company, the advertising agency Delphys Inc., as well as Amlux Toyota Co., Ltd. (which handles the operations of the Mega Web automobile-themed amusement facility in Tokyo and others) and Toyota Automall Development Corporation (which handles planning and operations of shopping centers and auto malls).

The new companies are being created by TMC as two separate entities so that tasks can become more specialized and functions enhanced, and so that genchi genbutsu marketing activities can be advanced, with a focus on customer-centered activities. In addition, the aim is to carry out marketing activities that also bear in mind ways to contribute to TMC’s product development and sales innovation by promptly and accurately gauging the needs of customers and then providing prompt feedback to TMC.

That's a great idea and it's about time! Toyota can do a better job, they don't need the whimpering leftists politically correct idiots running stupid ads, like we're sorry, because “caca pasa” and they are trying to find the cause of the acceleration. I like the ads that say, “Now is a great time to buy a Toyota”, because it really is, and who needs a government car (GM) anyway, can you imagine when that car starts having problems and you'll have to deal with the govt? Good luck with that! and Toyota is a great product.

I’m not sure if this is the correct site for what I have to say or not but here goes. I just saw one of your ads for your Hilander on tv tonight. The ad showed a little boy (brat) calling his parents “lame”. Is toyota now calling the people that are purchasing yourr vehicles “lame”. It made me very angry. I would never buy one of your cars if this is what you think of your customers. I think you should remove this ad as quickly as possible.
