Ad Agency paid $18M to Redesign Recovery.gov Web Site

July 14, 2009

The advertising agency responsible for bilking the US government $18 million to redesign recovery.gov has not yet been named but someone has to dig this one up.

Some Ad Agency is getting paid $18,000,000 to redesign a website…. that’s right… $18,000,000 … part of the funds are going to a firm called Smartronix but it’s still unclear if they themselves are redesigning the site, because if they are… that’s a horrific choice for usability … look at their site and tell me if you are happy to fork over 18 million of your taxpayer dollars for this.

Either the world has gone mad, or someone is getting paid hardcore. This needs to be investigated… because this is BS to the highest levels.

I’m pretty sure everything this company does is under the hood. That is, the shit you don’t see. I bet it’ll have a nice design like all the other redesigned gov websites.

But uh, you know, the amount of data the government has, and the kind of logistics and programming it would require to manage it, the price tag is probably pretty fair.

$18 million for a redesign is ridiculous. Database software is free and easy to manage, there is not much logistics and programming, only backups which can be done by any IT administration team, that’s not hard. This is ridiculous.
