Mcdonalds put coupons for high fat kids meals on middle school report cards
Mcdonalds paid the super low cost of $1,600 for printing report-cards for the 2007-2008 school year in Seminole County, Florida
In return for coupons to force on little kids for a Happy Meal coupon. 27,000 elementary school kids attend school in the county, the school rule is to take their report-cards home to be signed three or four times a year by their parents.
Not only did the Golden Arches put coupons for high fat kids meals in their report cards, they did it at 2 cents an impression per kid, 1 cent an impression when you consider the fact that their parents had to SIGN the report card.
Here is the report card (click to enlarge):
So not only did they get an ad targeted at kids, it was school rules that the parents signed it.
Now that is effective advertising… and it’s crap to extreme levels.
