Why is Google filing all these telecom related trademarks? A quick search of the US patent and Trademark office showed the following Trademarks owned by Google. Many of these were JUST filed and would be considered Breaking News .. one of them hasn’t even technically been approved from what we saw.

It’s no longer a question of just a ‘Google Phone’ they appear to be moving towards becoming a full fledged telecom.
It’s one thing if a startup wants to enter into these markets, it’s another when it’s Google that utilizes extreme technical knowledge of the database of the entire Internet.
I would be concern if I were Verizon, AT&T or any of the other telecoms out there.. really concerned.
Ever since I’ve started playing with GOOG411, I’ve realized that what they are trying to do: Control every communication channel accessing the entire body of human knowledge, past, present, and future. Simple SEO is not even sufficient. Now we have to optimize for voice recognition systems too. Yeah, those telecoms would be wise to pay attention here.
