Icrossing says they are ’search agency of record’ for BeBe stores
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ — iCrossing, a global digital marketing company, has been selected as search agency of record by leading fashion retailer bebe stores, inc *release*.
Search agency of record? That’s a new one. SEO or SEM firms are not what would be considered an ‘agency of record’. To throw that out there implies more than just PPC or SEO. It implies that Icrossing wants to be an Ad Agency.
Don’t get us wrong, we are happy to see another fellow Search Marketing Agency converting another client to fully understand the power of search marketing and optimization. But calling it an ‘agency of record’ is not accurate by any stretch.
We at Yooter InterActive Marketing avoid the term because we don’t want to even put a question out there in the market place that we are there to do nothing other than help ad agencies build a better relationship with their clients. Phrases like this just muddy the water and causes Advertising Agencies to look at SEO and SEM firms like competitors rather than what they are, part of a bigger marketing plan.
Congrats Icrossing on your sale, but don’t continue to send out releases like this that cause Ad Agencies to question doing work with SEO and SEM firms.
It’s not good for your cause, it’s not good for the industry as a whole.
