Harley-Davidson, Xerox fire thousands
January 23, 2009
The recession is eating into everyone’s pocketbook, and eating into it hard. So far only the automakers and the banks have been bailed out and are “safe” for the time being. However virtually every other industry has taken it hard. Most Americans work for small business, and not even a plan to “bail out” those small businesses has been drafted, much less implemented. Though the majority of states are reporting that most of the the unemployed are coming from small businesses.
* Harley-Davidson Inc. said Friday it will fire 1,100 people, close facilities and dump the work on others as it grapples with the recession.
* Xerox, earlier announced it will fire 3,000 people — missed 4Q profit by massive numbers
Unless this recession stops now, this is all our retirement plans.
