Warner Bros. to fire 10% of staff

January 21, 2009

Warner Bros. plans to cut 800 jobs, about 10 percent of its workforce, citing declining DVD sales and very low demand for their TV programming. It’s happening people, Internet streaming of video is killing DVD sales and this recession is speeding up the collapse. Though sit in movie theater sales are expected to be stable or even rise during 2009 with several blockbusters being released, it’s the after “the release” issues that are forcing problems, such as DVD sales.

For the format war, it’s almost over… it was never HD-DVD vs Blu-ray, it was disc type media vs streaming, and it appears that streaming has won. If advertising agencies want to deliver TV commercials for their clients, they need to be building relationships with Hulu.Com or CBS.com, it is where the viewers are now.

We always thought traditional TV would outlast print, we were mistaken, the internet is set to destroy both at the same time.

Computers won’t overtake this! This is time tested!
