New York Times : Ubuntu might wipe out Microsoft

January 11, 2009

The New York Times is reporting that Ubuntu Linux might “overthrow” Windows and Apple from the desktop, and this recession is helping it happen. As the price for Linux is zero as compared to “pay me for my looks Apple” and “Donate to Stable Steve Windows”

“11 percent of American businesses have systems based on Ubuntu. That said, many of the largest Ubuntu customers have cropped up in Europe, where Microsoft’s dominance has endured intense regulatory and political scrutiny.”

I’m good with it… this post is written on Ubuntu… I got sick of so many “cancel or allows” … well.. most of them at least..

I support what you’re saying! I think Ubuntu definitely has a card to play between the ‘legacy’ Windows and the shiny but expensive and closed Mac. By the way, if you’re interested in Ubuntu, you might want to take a look at the site we launched today (!) : it’s called allmyapps and it helps users find and install new applications on their Linux Ubuntu system.
    Cheers,
