Ogilvy internal memo brings scorn from staffers

December 22, 2008

Evidently there is an internal memo circulating around Ogilvy that invokes David Ogilvy’s name… and is upsetting staffers beyond belief……to the point where Tomato’s are being considered as a way to greet management when they parade around the halls with pink slips.

The memo acknowledges that it’s been a “grueling” year, and that it’s “both principles and traditions” that hold the agency together, which is why they’re going forward with the traditional Bagpiper’s March through the hallways. It invokes David Ogilvy’s name, of course. All partners and senior partners are invited to participate, but given the likelihood of tomato-throwing, I have to wonder what kind of turnout they’ll get.

The best line: “We have seen people weep at their desks, touched by the emotion of it.”

The jokes just write themselves…

What a joke, what a farce… these people are getting fired right and left… and moral is the last thing on their minds.. their mortgage payment is.

Go ahead Management, walk the halls… The staffers are getting ready.
