Ad Agency Layoff Counter - 6,140 Jobs Lost in past 8 weeks

December 22, 2008

B|Net is running a layoff counter, that is more sobering than Agency Spy’s real time twitter layoff feed… because now we are not only seeing it in real time…. now we are seeing grand totals…. like 6,140 Jobs Lost in past 8 weeks ….

This is horrific to say the least.. by the time this is done… people are going to need to add a zero to those totals…. maybe more… you can’t run a modern economy without banks… and that is currently what we have. They get bailouts.. but are not lending money.. a fine example is Detroit, a city where the Big 3 autos have not yet collapsed… but currently has a 21% unemployment rate and that rate is expected to double IE: 42% or more if the auto industry totally collapses.

Terrifying … and get more scary with each headline coming across the wire…

People always hate to talk about when they are laid off. But as it has become every day’s news headline since Yahoo started it with cutting 1500 of its task force last year, now a need of platform has been in demand where people can express their selves in words how they are feeling about their company, whey the got laid off was that justified or not.
And every thing they want to tell anonymously. And http://www.layoffgossip.com is providing you that platform.

I have lived in Detroit my entire life. I just took an early retirement and buy out from Hertz. But this is actually good news for me. I just bid on the house my daughter sold three years ago for 114 K. It’s in St. Clair Shore. nice city, north of the infamous 8 Mile Rd. If I win the HUD bid Monday I will snatch it up for 20K. I will be living two miles south of my daughter and grand kids. I am sorry for those who are in worse shape, at least I qualify for Social Security disability for medical reasons. My 401K survived the hit, I readjusted the diversity back in July.
