New York Taxes Everything : 18% tax on soda, iPod tax, movie theater tax, sporting event tax, taxi tax, bus tax, limo tax, cable TV tax, radio tax, clothing tax

New York to Tax everything… literally everything… 18% tax on soda, iPod tax, movie theater tax, sporting event tax, taxi tax, bus tax, limo tax, cable TV tax, radio tax, clothing tax

And the list doesn’t quit… the worst is the way it’s targeting the taxes, all towards younger individuals..The types that are getting fired at ad agencies…. for example An “iPod tax” that charges state and local sales tax for “digitally delivered entertainment services” - in other words, that new song you downloaded also comes bundled with a new tax.

This is not even close to being done… thinking of skipping the iPod tax and going to a movie? You’re screwed on that too… State sales tax at movie theaters…. well you better not drink a soda at the movies… that soda is now taxed at 18% …

Suddenly, New York isn’t so fun…. off to Philly… at least they ain’t taxing people out of a job like wildfire …..

Here’s the list

That sound you hear is Governor Patterson throwing-in the towel. The state just told poor New Yorkers to get out of town. And they will if they can.

18% tax on soda….When that happens. I refuse to buy any soda and I like soda. I will not buy the
    (cancer stuff DIET SODA.)
And I am not FAT. I am over 50. I like soda with my dinner. So now they will put the soda companies, to lay off workers because people will not stand for that.. we are the people of power not anybody else. I feel sorry for the soda companies! POWER TO THE PEOPLE! WE ALL STICK TOGETHER!

I am all for this, except how the hell are they going to tax radio? I mean, it’s an open wave. Also, diet soda should be taxed as well because it is actually worse for you.But I am for the taxing, because the New York public education is going down the drain. My district is at 120% capacity, has only 70% of the needed supplies. Next year, the budget will be cut by 7 million dollars. I can’t let that happen, even if it means paying an extra few cents for everything.

Got something to say?
