PIZZA HUT CHANGES NAME TO PASTA HUT
October 13, 2008
LONDON - Fifty-year-old restaurant chain Pizza Hut is temporarily changing its name to Pasta Hut in a radical £100m relaunch.
Although it plans to keep the same number of pizzas on the menu, from this week Pizza Hut will introduce eight pasta dishes across its 700 restaurants to support its new positioning. Nine restaurants will change their signage immediately.
And the war broke out on Digg right away…
* “Whey don’t they call just call themself “the hut”?”
* “If they want to change to pasta hut, they need to do some research into the likely domain name ” pastahut.com is already taken
* The guy who owns that domain is going to be very, very rich.
* You can put lipstick on a pig…
* this really is a lame attempt at drawing attention.
Wieden+Kennedy lost the account earlier this year, it’s unknown who replaced them at this time.
