Tribune Newspapers puts SEO team in charge of content

This is perhaps the news of the century.. The Tribune Company, the holding company with assets such as the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Cubs baseball team has placed an SEO team in charge of content. These are not small papers that the Tribune owns such as LOS ANGELES TIMES, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, THE BALTIMORE SUN, SUN SENTINEL, ORLANDO SENTINEL, THE HARTFORD COURANT, ALLENTOWN MORNING CALL.

The amazing rise of the SEO industry has shell shocked many traditional firms to the point where the new leaders are SEO and online marketers. The last hold out is the Ad Agency space, and it’s our guess that it’s because SEO is viewed as a threat rather than a opportunity, and the bigger story is that SEO forces agencies to work with firms like Google.. However that old mentality is already starting to crumble…

CHICAGO Saying it wanted to increase its search engine optimization and “help build more intriguing content” for Tribune Co. sites, Tribune Interactive (TI) named new appointments to a restructured content team.

Amazing stuff… now if we can get Ad Agencies to see the light things will start to turn around for them for the better.. .because let’s face it.. what they have now isn’t working.
