Exactly how many millions did Coke pay to advertising agency Weiden + Kennedy (W+K) for the tagline “Zero Zero 7″ for their tie in with James Bond… someone please leak us the new ads for this!!
It’s perhaps the worst tag line we have ever heard… we had a good laugh when we saw this posted on MediaBistro / Agency Spy …
It’s up there with New Coke in terms of creative.
I could just picture it:
W+K : Our cutting edge creatives have came up with a tag line that is sure to bring in male Coke drinkers in droves … it’s Zero Zero 7 for the James Bond Movie!
Coke : How much will this re-branding tie in cost us?
W+K : It’s advertising, it doesn’t cost you a penny… every penny you spend on this will come back wrapped up as a nickel.
Coke : Well how many pennies then
W+K : Only a few million, plus our massive fees…
Coke : Good deal, here’s a blank check… put out your tagline.
Our bet is that is how New Coke got sold as well….
