Playboy buys Ad Agency to increase sales

Evidently Playboy feels that they need to own advertising agencies in order to increase ad sales. This is somewhat of a backwards approach…

Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) — Tomorrow Focus AG, the publisher of the German online edition of Playboy magazine, plans to buy a stake in an advertising company this year to help increase sales, Chief Executive Officer Stefan Winners said.

The target will be an online ad seller that gets paid when advertised products are sold, Winners said in an interview in Berlin. Munich-based Tomorrow Focus’s mainstay product is so- called display advertisements which companies use to build their brands, a segment that’s “declining in coming quarters” as customers trim ad budgets, he said.
