Survey : Internet beat TV’s

July 6, 2006

According to a new poll, Ad Agencies are spending money in the wrong places.Â

Britain’s young people are for the first time spending more time looking at internet sites than watching TV, a new survey has revealed. The lives of youngsters aged between 16 and 25 are dominated by their computers. The average youth spends 23 hours a week online and 67 per cent of youngsters say they would be “lost” without their PC.

July 5, 2006

It looks like someone at a fake Ad Agency came up with a great idea :) Almost as good as linkie winkie :)
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - A Dutch design student bored with conventional advertisements has set up a fake online agency offering advertising space for beer, cars and TV stations on prostitutes’ thighs and cleavage.

Prospective customers phoning his fake agency are kept on hold and bombarded with sales pitches until they give up.

Linkie Winkie a Traffic Booster to legit sites

July 5, 2006

John Diffenthal noted that Linkie Winkie is driving traffic to his blog, and for good reason. The link building experiment (if not subjected to spam) is actually an awesome tool.

It shows a test on multiple levels, one being just an experiment, the second showing that SEO’s are literally the next generation of Ad Agencies (though Chris and Gurtie might disagree) the point being that only experts could generate traffic levels like that with a budget of 20 bucks.

The Linkie Winkie Project and Tribble Ad Agency

July 4, 2006

The Monster of online Marketing is still going strong. Linkie Winkie is booming in terms of traffic as well as it’s viral campaign. We want to note that we are not affilated with Linkie Winkie but we know the owners well (And we must say we are big fans of them).

If you want to know the story on how Tribble Ad Agency and Linkie Winkie are affilated then here it is:

The owner of Tribble Ad Agency is a moderator at Search Guild as well as a few other SEO forums like Threadwatch. The owner of Search Guild is also the owner of Linkie Winkie. In short, we both know each other.

We both were launching experiments.  Linkie Winkie is a link building experiment, Tribble is a social engineering experiment (however both tend to do well across both platforms). We did launch at about the same time, but it was without any planning with each other, it just happened.

So Tribble Ad Agency decided to reverse engineer the Linkie Winkie Project to see how it works (it’s intresting to us) and at the same time, the guys / girls at continued to evaluate the progress of their project. So we know how the process works over there, and we are pretty certian that Gurtie and Chris know what we are trying to do here.

The point is, we are all friends and just having fun with our tests, it just happend that both tests are happening at the same time.

They Know exactly what they are getting themselves into

July 4, 2006

They know what they are getting themselves in for. AdHurl wrote an article regarding these Ad Agencies don’t know what is going on… but they know what they are getting themselves in for bidding on the Safeway Account for 250,000,000 USD.

It’s a massive account, the problem we see with all the contenders is that they don’t have the inhouse capabilities for Search Engine Optimization for example. In fact none of the agencies bidding understand organic search optimization branding (mostly because none of them have purchased one of the 10 or so strong SEO firms).

Are SEO Agencies an alternative to Ad Agencies

July 3, 2006

Earlier we wrote about how a SEO Agency was expanding their reach to include more than just Search in the general web search , they were expanding to News Search, Video Search, Blog Search and just about anything that had the word ‘search’ appended to it.

Since more and more people are moving away from the TV, Magazines, Radio and spending more of their time searching though http://blogsearch.google.com and http://video.yahoo.com it leads one to believe that perhaps that is the next TV Ad to make it.

Do we picture SEO firms in 2 years making short TV videos for Google Video Search…. uhh… yea… it’s bound to happen…Â it falls under the SEO umbrella ‘rank higher’ …Â We have already seen Aaron Wall posting some videos for how to use his SEO book

SEO AGENCIES EXPANDING SERVICES

July 3, 2006

Are SEO Agencies Expanding Services?

Generally SEO firms stuck to the Organic Serps, but now they are offering ‘Video Search’ ‘Blog Search’ ‘News Search’ just about anything that has to do with Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Should Ad Agencies take Notice that these firms are growing in capabilities?

Overall SEO firms are focusing more and more on brand awareness as well as organic SERPS.

Going to an SEO firm is becoming more of an alternative to a general ad agency.

Wikipeda does it right with ‘advertising Agency’

July 1, 2006

It appears that Wikipedia did it right with the entry for Advertising Agency Wiki

Lately, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) firms have been classified by some as ‘agencies’ due to the fact that they are creating media and implementing media purchases of text based (or image based in some instances of search marketing) ads. This relatively young industry has been slow to adopt the term ‘agency’ however with the creation of ads (either text or image) and media purchases they do qualify technically as an ‘advertising agency’ as well as recent studies suggest that both SEO and SEM are set to outpace magazine spending in the next 3-5 years.

This is intresting for many of us,  because Ad Agency Review Consultants have yet to read the article.
