3dprinter — now there’s a 4DCOPIER

Evidently there’s a 4Dcopier in development that would make a 3dprinter look primitive. It literally replicates whatever item is placed in it. There’s no 3d Schematics that you have to load to the printer, it just scans whatever is in there, and then makes a replica.

I got this rumor second hand, but from what I am told it will do the following (example)

1 - You put an item in the box, such as a plastic toy.
2 - The 4dcopier then scans the item
3 - The 4dcopier then replicates the item in any quantity you wish.

It’s almost a Xerox machine for 3d printers… hence it’s called a 4d printer.

I have no technical specs, and this is just hearsay until I get verification.

Star Trek and Today

Funny things have shown up in the past few years. For one, much of the Star Trek Technology is either being worked on, or already exists.

Star Trek Universe : Replicators

Replicators are machines or mini-factories that can create whatever they are asked to. When they showed up in the Star Trek Universe everyone was in awe as someone could walk up to the Replicator and state “Make me a copy of this key” and within a few seconds it showed up.

2013 : 3d Printers

3d Printers are machines or mini-factories that can create whatever they are asked to. When they showed up in the real world everyone was in awe as someone could walk up to the 3d printer and load the blueprints to make a copy of a key, within minutes the key shows up.

The list goes on, Theoretically The Alcubierre Drive could be considered a warp drive.

Though the Alcubierre Drive might be more potent as a weapon than an actual Warp Drive, as concerns are raised by Brendan McMonigal, Geraint F. Lewis, and Philip O’Byrne have argued that when an Alcubierre-driven ship decelerates from superluminal speed, the particles that its bubble has gathered would be released in energetic outbursts; in the case of forward-facing particles, energetic enough to destroy anyone at the destination directly in front of the ship.

In other words it might destroy solar systems on arrival.

It’s close people, we’re closer than we can imagine.

LAYERCAKE BUILDER, a unique WYSIWYG tool to create advanced interfaces without coding

Summary: Layercake builder is an application which can be used to create interactive visual applications which can interact with various devices in the cloud. Layercake builder is a robust application development framework made for designers to build visual applications without having to code a single line. Layercake builder is now on Kickstarter looking to collect funds to speed up the development process and improve on the features of the tool.

Main Article
Touch interfaces are going mainstream: not just tablets and Smartphones but also large interactive walls popping up in malls, hotels, showrooms. Interfaces get connected to the real world through sensors.
But what about the process of creation of advanced interfaces with degrees of connection with the external world? No matter what technology you choose, you need to code or pay someone to do it.
With LAYERCAKE builder you can create interactive visual applications with social sharing functions and use open protocols to talk to devices and the cloud. You can do it without coding a line of software, with freedom from rigid templates, flexibility, getting professional results.

In LAYERCAKE builder you have a number of 2D layers linked between them: spread over the layers you have interactive objects, each one with properties and actions attached. Think about having a camera: your screen size is what the camera sees, then you can move it around the layer, exploring, zooming and rotating to discover the objects.
LAYERCAKE builder is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) authoring tool that doesn’t require coding or scripting. You can see the results of what you are creating in real time. It’s an authoring tool running on Windows 7 and 8 PCs: you build your projects with standard media assets like images (JPG, png with alpha layer, png sequences, tiff, …), videos (mp4, avi, wmv, …), 3D objects then export them as standalone applications for Windows 7 and 8 PCs or as apps for mobile devices you can run through the Layercake players for Windows RT, iOS, Android.

We conceived it for creative professionals with no coding skills: graphic designers, interaction designers, architects, artists, DIY guys. You can use it to create the final product or as a rapid prototyping tool.
LAYERCAKE Builder is a product by IF, the Imagination Factory (www.if-london.co.uk), a team of interaction designers and software engineers based in London with more than 100 years of cumulated experience in the field of Human Computer Interaction.

LAYERCAKE Builder is now on Kickstarter: the product will be available through the www.layercakebuilder.com website at the end of the Kickstarter campaign at 119 £ per authoring tool license together with a range of support, training and professional services. For the purpose of the launch campaign, kickstarters will be able to reserve their license at the special price of 19 £.

Twitter going for IPO

This might be a complete fail whale, or it might be what finally turns this economy around.

Twitter is going public, according to Fast Company. Twitter is the second largest social media site, and the largest private one.

The company is linked into everything via their API, such as in order to play lockbreaker you need either a facebook or twitter account.

We believe that they learned much from Facebook’s mistakes, and most likely you’ll see it be a successful IPO. We wish them luck.

#foursquare should be worried

The new upstart that appeared out of no where to have a wide following in central Pennsylvania. Is raising alarms at the Foursquare corporate location. The breakthrough with lockbreaker is that technically speaking Starbucks could launch a full scale advertising campaign in Dunkin Donuts.

The GPS driven app, though in extreme levels of Alpha, has the potential to cause disruption to the traditional foursquare mayor and sponsor model.

Lockbreaker allows for difficulty within gameplay for sponsors to allocate prizes while on location. Hence allowing for larger sponsorships. The game launched in stealth a few weeks ago, and worth of mouth spread it. A new version of the android app was published this morning. The game also has a webapp for iphone and other models.

With zero marketing and with a stealth launch there should be zero players, however Lockbreaker has exceeded Foursquares market penetration in some markets.

It appears that the reviews on Lockbreaker are positive. Hugely positive according to Reddit.

The mobile gaming and advertising app has no small goal, to revamp mobile advertising. The app has appeared to gain a large following overnight… these guys might have solved mobile advertising.. first app I know of where people WANT to see ads.

New Killer App launches on Android - extremely disruptive to mobile advertising

This might be the game changer. Lockbreaker went live on the Android platform late last night. The game is an experimental (BETA) GPS powered “video game” that could revolutionize mobile gaming and advertising.

The game is highly addictive, and social enabled (you play with either Facebook or Twitter) it pits players against players forcing them to try to crack each others codes in order to gain gold coins. Those gold coins then could be used to open advertiser prize boxes, which have things such as iPads and free beer at the local bar inside.

The funny thing about the game is that the ROI for advertising is much higher than what would be achieved with any normal marketing, as some early adopters have literally seen people walk in off the street because they won something as small as a free beer at the bar, and spend $50 dollars while there.

The mobile GPS enabled game theoretically allows Dunkin’ Donuts to launch an advertising campaign INSIDE of Starbucks. Which is raising chaos with some in the mobile advertising business. It’s a highly disruptive, and is dominating the central Pennsylvania region (where the game started) for mobile advertising.

There is an iPhone app in development, (click here if you are on an iphone or other device) it takes you to a webapp install screen. Android users can download the app directly here.

Reddit Bugs…..sigh..

We have all see this before on Reddit.

Looks like you’re either a brand new user or your posts have not been doing well recently. You may have to wait a bit to post again. In the meantime feel free to check out the reddiquette or join the conversation in a different thread.

This becomes a problem for many (some reports put it at nearly 50% of users) have experienced that at least once.

We should start a whitehouse petition to have the problem addressed :)

Amazing look alike in Star Trek into the darkness - Dr. Elizabeth Dehner

On the left (and most likely on the right as well) is Dr. Elizabeth Dehner.

The shot on the left was taken for Star Trek’s second pilot episode called “where no man has gone before” (wiki) it aired on September 22, 1966. On the Right was a preview that was just released for the film slated for 2013.

The villain in that episode is Lt. Cmdr. Gary Mitchell.

There is a 99.9999% chance that the villain is going to be Gary Mitchell and you’re looking at Dr. Elizabeth Dehner in the above photos.

There were only 2 episodes in the original series (that I can recall) where Kirk Abandoned someone on a planet, one was Khan (which starred in the movie Star Trek, The Wrath of Khan) the other was Gary Mitchell.

Khan came back in that movie… now it’s Gary’s turn.

Take what you want out of it.
