Star Wars: The Last Jedi clip reveals Force Awakens cliffhanger

Disney gave shareholders a sneak peek at “The Last Jedi” on Wednesday at its annual shareholders meeting in Denver. “As always, quick snippets from unreleased films were included with other clips from movies, TV shows, and sports”.

As announced previously, The Last Jedi picks up immediately after The Force Awakens, beginning with the cliffside meeting between Luke (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley).

A shot of Captain Phasma. She is seen igniting it, and spinning it, learning a few new moves.

The giant ship mentioned is interesting, but again, there’s so little hard information out there that all we can do is speculate. Because as far as we know, Rey and Luke have never met before (though theories about their relationship abound).

Today Disney revealed more details about the nighttime fesitivities, including the news that it will include “Inside the Saga: Celebrity Chat Show”, hosted by voice actress Vanessa Marshall (Hera from “Star Wars Rebels”). They show Luke’s hand grasping his old lightsaber. And it ended there!

As we are sadly not all Disney shareholders it may be a while before we get to see the footage. Others (myself included) argued that narrative parallels are hardly proof of familial lineage, and that we don’t have almost enough information to know who Rey is, or why she was abandoned on Jakku. They showed the sizzle again before the D23 Beauty and the Beast screening. Not knowing who she is, in this moment, doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t know her at all.

Well, we finally know how that scene pans out, and it’s no earth-shattering reveal of Jedi wisdom.

So most of this info seems pretty obvious: the film will span many exotics locales, the characters from Force Awakens will return in a big way, and there will undoubtedly be some training sequences.
