Guidewire Achieves AWS Financial Services Competency Status

AWS Greengrass is a new platform from Amazon that extends AWS IoT and Lambda for local execution on customers’ own gateways and devices, with the same programming model as used in the cloud.

A new AWS service helps customers more easily find a partner that can help them with a particular problem.

According to AWS, because these devices are powered by microprocessors that have limited processing power and memory, they often rely heavily on AWS and the cloud for processing, analytics, and storage.

The AWS Service Delivery Program is created to highlight AWS Partner Network (APN) Partners who have a track record of delivering verified customer success for specific Amazon Web Services (AWS) products. “We look forward to continuing to build on our ability to provide Fanatical Support for AWS to our customers”. An increasing number of companies are opting to move all of their apps and data to the Amazon’s cloud, too, and as they do, are reassessing whether to use Amazon’s databases for some of their apps, rather than Oracle’s, they say. The Shield Standard protection will be turned on by default for all customers, he said, and will protect from volumetric and state exhaustion attacks.

The new F1 instance is the cloud’s first customer-programmable, hardware-accelerated compute instance with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). More details about the offering aren’t available yet. Amazon just announced a new version of Snowball (pictured above) with more storage and faster networking, but it’s still not “exabyte scale”, so the company made a decision to build something even bigger. It’s also a strike against companies like Cloudflare and Akamai, which offer DDoS mitigation services.

The event drew people from financial services, health care, gaming and other industries interested in learning more about how to use cloud computing, and let Amazon flex its muscles as a market leader in the fast-growing industry. “Using the AWS Cloud helps us to enable digital transformation, the agility of our clients and improve the cost effectiveness of IT estates through pay-as-you go services”. Additionally, Palo Alto Networks joins the AWS Competency Program for Security, which highlights partners who have demonstrated success in building products and solutions on AWS to support customers in multiple areas, including infrastructure security, policy management, identity management, security monitoring, vulnerability management, and data protection.

Andy Jassy, the CEO of AWS, explains in a recent interview that AWS might possibly become the largest part of Amazon one day, saying: “It would likely take time”.
