“As the Committee examines the attack and considers legislative proposals to address homegrown extremism, I respectfully request your assistance with the Committee’s inquiry given Mr Mateen’s use of Facebook”, Johnson writes. “I feel like it’s a side of him or a part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about”. In phone calls and text messages to 911 operators, friends and family members, people trapped inside the club, who heard statements the killer was making, also warned of explosives.
