Elizabeth Warren Just Brought the Fight to Donald Trump
Most voters feel the upcoming election matters more than ones in the past.
The latest episode involves class-action lawsuits against Trump University, Trump’s defunct real estate training program. Trump University targeted the most vulnerable people and left them in debt, Warren said, and “in America, we have the rule of law that means no matter how rich you are, no matter how loud you are, no matter how famous you are, if you break the law you can be held accountable, even if your name is Donald Trump”.
On Thursday evening, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren dug into the presumptive Republican nominee.
Meanwhile, Trump’s comments on Curiel have prompted criticism from U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, who described them as “the textbook definition of a racist comment“, and former GOP presidential candidates Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, among other Republicans.
Other Republicans in Congress and across the country have been less satisfied with Trump’s attempt to clarify his remarks. “It’s shameful, racist, and quite simply unacceptable from anyone who seeks to represent every American, in the White House or any level of public service”. Then, they should ask Trump whether he thinks that Muslim or Mexican-American judges alone - unlike members of other potentially offended groups - should have to recuse themselves for lacking objectivity and impartiality. “I can’t speak for the GOP, but Clinton is the “presumptive” nominee as per the press, not the process”, said Alex Montgomery, the Asia-Pacific vice chair for Democrats Abroad. “He will have no trouble surviving Trump’s nasty temper tantrums”.
Trump also said he would order the military to kill family members of extremists who threaten the US, a position he has since retreated from after being heavily criticized.
She continued: “Like all federal judges, Judge Curiel is bound by the federal code of judicial ethics not to respond to these attacks”.
Trump had originally suggested he wanted to raise $1 billion for the campaign but has since suggested that he would target less than that.
Ryan’s policy blueprint is aimed at defining what Republicans are for, not just what they are against. He said Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is “incredibly unpopular” in rural Minnesota districts, many of which are now held by Republicans. “But I do think, hope and believe that he’s going to improve the tenor of the campaign, the tone of the campaign, the kind of campaign that he’s going to run”.
Collins said he understood there would be lingering questions about Trump after the distracting episode, but said the speech was part of what he sees as a “total pivot” by the candidate.
Crowds gather in an intersection near Trump Tower in New York, Thursday, June 9, 2016, where Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was expected to depart. “I don’t think we should apply a religious test to anybody”.
President Barack Obama endorsed Clinton earlier in the day. While talking about the Supreme Court vacancy, he said he hopes it will be filled by “whoever the next president is, and in my view, God willing, it’ll be Secretary Clinton”.
