Testy Trump takes his war with the press to a new level
Our correspondent adds: World’s most renowned scientist Stephen Hawkins termed Donald Trump, the Republican Presidential candidate “a demagogue” who seems to appeal to lowest common denominator, CNN reported on Tuesday.
Trump campaign staffers had declined to release a list of organizations that had benefitted from the January fundraiser for months. Good for him had he done so, even despite his truculent cowardice in refusing to face Fox News reporters again. “I have given a lot of money… and I think when the press portrays it differently, the press is being very dishonest, so I don’t like that”.
“It is going to be like this, David. if the press writes false stories like they did with this”.
One of the veterans’ charities receiving money from the Donald J. Trump Foundation is also linked to a MI telemarketing firm that’s been accused of deceptive statements by the Minnesota attorney general.
Trump boasted that he was the only presidential candidate who could make $6 million for the veterans.
Donald Trump really unloaded on the media yesterday, and there was, in my view, one overriding reason.
“Well, generally speaking, that is 100 percent true”, Mr. Trump said.
Clinton’s campaign, for instance, sent out a memo to reporters questioning Trump’s policy proposals for veterans ahead of his Tuesday news conference.
That was some press conference the other day, specifically Tuesday in NY, more specifically the one in which The Donald slammed the media for doing media things. Ever look in the mirror, Donald? “The press should be ashamed of themselves, and on behalf of the veterans, the press should be ashamed of themselves”. “While Trump needed to be shamed into honoring his commitments, Hillary Clinton has quietly made personal donations in addition to spending her career fighting for veterans through legislation, fundraising and the work of the Clinton Foundation”.
Trump said the news coverage of his veterans group donations had been close to libelous.
In 2009, The Clinton Family Foundation gave $25,000 to the Friends Of American Lake Veterans Golf Course.
Trump acknowledged the questionable timing of these latest donations during his news conference in which he also railed against the media giving him “bad publicity“. The event was originally called to give Trump a chance to respond to allegations that he had not donated money to veterans’ charities that he claimed to have raised during a previous fundraiser. On Tuesday, when Llamas asked why Trump had called him names on TV, Trump replied, “You’re a sleaze because you know the facts, and you know the facts well”.
13News Now has learned the Virginia Beach-based Navy SEAL Foundation received a donation of $465,000 from Trump.
In May, four months after Trump said he had donated the money, Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold reached out to various veteran groups and asked them if they had received a check from the business mogul.
Campaign officials said the rally would take place at the South Hall of the San Jose Convention Center at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 4:00 p.m.
