Hillary Clinton Wins Puerto Rico Democratic Primary

The complication here is that then-Senator Hillary Clinton technically won the popular vote in the 2008 Democratic primary, though many feel this should be reported with a giant asterisk because President Obama was not on the ballot in MI.

When the race was called by the major networks, Clinton was winning 64 percent of the vote to Sanders’ 34 percent, and a likely majority of the territory’s 60 pledged delegates. An email to supporters calling for cash ahead of Tuesday’s primaries was all about Hillary. Sanders has repeatedly stated that he will take his campaign to the Democrats’ July party convention, and Clinton will want as decisive and overwhelming a delegate tally as possible to convince him his time is up.

Eight years ago, with the presidential nomination slipping from her grasp, Mrs Clinton rolled through the streets of San Juan on the back of a flat-bed truck, wooing voters to a soundtrack of blasting Latin music. Virgin Islands on Saturday and in Puerto Rico on Sunday.

Sanders, on the other hands, trails Clinton significantly among pledged delegates, as well as in the total delegate count.

Sanders noted Saudi Arabia as a contributor to the Clinton Foundation, a country notorious for restricting civil liberties.

On Tuesday, primaries and caucuses will be held in California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota, with more than 800 delegates available.

NEXT UP AFTER CALIFORNIA: The District of Columbia’s 20 delegates are up for grabs in the nation’s final primary contest on June 14.

“Any person who is a Bernie Sanders supporter, please, do not in any way, shape or form engage in violence”, Sanders said after a week in which protesters, some of whom are Sanders supporters, attacked Donald Trump supporters in California. Few have signaled any plans to do so, however.

Clinton’s nomination wouldn’t be official, though, until the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Add Wisconsin to the list of states calling for the end of the superdelegate system by the Democratic Party.

President Obama did that in 2008 when he and Clinton fought their way through the primaries.

In early returns, Clinton led Sanders by a 2-to-1 margin.

ORIGINAL POST: Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will give a speech at Sacramento City College on Sunday for a “get out the vote” rally. The latest, from CBS News, showed Clinton up just 2 points over Sanders, 49-47 percent.

In a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Jake Tapper asked Sanders whether it was ethical for the Clinton Foundation - an organization run by the Clintons and established to improve global health - to accept donations from governments that “don’t represent” U.S. values.

She said that should she become the nominee, she’ll be “reaching out” to Sanders and would do what she could to bring the party together.

“Do I have a problem with that?”
