Indian comedian faces backlash for video mocking celebrities
Its an admiral truth that some right wing activists took the Tanmay Bhatt’s video mimicking Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar to frame him as a wrong element in the society.
After all, the irreverent stand-up comedian was lampooning two of India’s most enduring celebrity icons: retired cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and revered playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.
Lataji’s younger sisters Asha Bhosle and Meena Khadikar have also finally commented on the video.
As per a TOI report, originally attributed to Bombay Times, Ashaji has neither watched this video yet nor she intends to. He said that her Facebook page looks like someone had kept her in water for 8 days. The Mumbai Police’s cyber cell has approached Google, Facebook and YouTube to block the “controversial” video.
Investigators said the focus now is on getting the links to the video blocked so that it can not be viewed on the internet. But the rise and spread of social media lends itself to fun, creativity and freedom of expression - some of which may be, according to some people, crass.
An Indian comedian is being investigated by police after posting a video mocking cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and singer Lata Mangeshkar.
According to The New Indian Express, 86-year-old Mangeshkar has broken her silence and said that she doesn’t intend to see the video.
Both the sisters seem to be very upset over the whole controversy. Earlier this month, he released a video about feminism that went viral.
A year ago in January 2015, he attracted backlash after being a part of the ‘AIB Knockout Roast. The show involved Bollywood actors such as Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, who got entangled into a full-fledged argument for perpetrating obscenity.
