Judge in Trump University case reseals some records

Mr Trump has repeatedly said he could settle the civil cases, but won’t out of principle.

There was no degree at the end of four years, no traditional accreditation that goes along with an institution of higher learning.

And Schneiderman was emphatic about the merits of the suit, rebutting the argument advanced by Trump that students have said they were happy with the product they received from the school. Shortly after Mr. Trump’s rally, Judge Curiel ordered the unsealing of about 1,000 pages of the company’s internal documents. Judge Curiel, who was nominated by Barack Obama to serve on the USA district court in Southern District of California in 2011.

The political consequences could be huge. (And Trump will likely be facing a flawed candidate in Hillary Clinton, who has the cloud of an FBI investigation hanging over her head - though it’s unlikely she will be indicted, as NPR’s Carrie Johnson has reported). When he was asked by the Hollywood Reporter back in April about the Curiel comments Trump made after the debate, Petrocelli laughed them off.

Trump maintains that customers were overwhelmingly pleased with the offerings, and the documents do include testimony from several satisfied customers. Then we get these class-action lawyers, they immediately sue. “Be sure to congratulate the buyer, shake hands, and make eye contact”, it explained, telling the marketers that they are “not doing any favor by letting someone use lack of money as an excuse” not to sign up.

Donald Trump is accusing the federal judge overseeing a Trump University lawsuit of bias and raising the possibility of his own lawsuit after the election. Most said the experience mattered. Trump told Fox News a few days later that Curiel’s treatment “has to do with I’m very, very strong on the border”.

Doesn’t sound like college?

Before the documents were released on Tuesday, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman slammed Donald Trump and his eponymous Trump University as “phony” and “shameless.”

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for the White House, continues to defend the university, which is embroiled in three different lawsuits in California and NY.

“Trump University looks forward to using this evidence, along with much more, to win when the case is brought before a jury”.

As Trump steamrolled through the GOP primary, some of those rivals raised Trump University as a liability for the businessman, and at least five different outside groups mentioned the business in attack ads.

The couple were talked into buying the program by another Trump University salesperson.

What about those good reviews? Trump’s rage might stem from the fact that he has much to fear.

The documents show that if there was anything less than a 90 percent positive score, that associates could be reprimanded. Trump had fought Tuesday’s release of previously sealed documents in the case.

But Schnackenberg described how he quit his sales manager job in 2007 after coming to believe that “Trump University was engaging in misleading, fraudulent and dishonest conduct”, echoing arguments laid out by plaintiffs who are former “students” who claim they were scammed.

In a tirade about the case during a campaign rally in San Diego last week, Trump said Curiel “happens to be, we believe, Mexican”, and should be ashamed of himself.

The campaign’s video featured a third former Trump University student, Kent Moyer, who called the seminars “outstanding”.

The assaults on Curiel have continued, nonetheless, with Trump bashing Curiel again, via Twitter, over the weekend.

Politically for the attorney general, it nearly doesn’t matter who will win or lose in court.

But Clinton’s emails have been poured over for more than a year.

Two other former students expressed similar praise for Trump U and the impact the courses had on their careers.
