Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 7: Death predictions
They lured the beloved character by claiming that they had seen Benjen.
Spoilers for the most recent episode of Game of Thrones are below!
So, what did we learn from this brief, yet extremely important scene?
Fortunately, a dark rider fought off the wights before revealing himself to be…
Benjen Stark (Joseph Mawle) was one of the reasons Jon Snow (Kit Harington) chose to join the Night’s Watch way back in Season 1 of Game of Thrones. But before he died, the Children of the Forest found him and saved his life. The White Walkers. The Onion Knight said it best, “The real war is between the dead and the living”.
Hopefully this will be a watershed moment when we can finally see what made Bran so special in the eyes of the Three Eyed Raven and what he can really do with those special abilities.
We then go to Sam and Gilly arriving at Sam’s hometown. The essentially weak family lost their hold on Riverrun, the castle that was originally home to the Tully family (Catelyn Stark’s family) to Brynden “the Blackfish” Tully, a noted warrior who has enough supplies to survive a siege at Riverrun for over a year. This sword has been passed on from generation to generation. Like Tyrion, Sam knows that books could be his greatest weapon, not to mention that he’s also the one who discovered that dragonglass kills the walkers. Him also being in the Night’s Watch is also a hint, considering that the character from the novels is depicted to be wearing the black and gray uniform of the Watch. The Queen of Thorns realized how they have been beaten by the High Sparrow’s schemes.
With the Sparrow now seemingly working with Margaery and Tommen, you can argue that he is more powerful than he has ever been before.
The promo devotes a major chunk to King’s Landing and the Lannisters’ struggle against the High Sparrow. Will we get to see her leave Braavos soon? Several episodes ago, Margaery told Loras that the Faith wanted her to turn on him and she promised that she wouldn’t - as always, she remains loyal to her brother.
If both the White Walkers and Daenery’s army are heading toward King’s Landing, and if the story permits an encounter by both parties, it could be quite an interesting battle between “ice” and “fire” as it is known that Daenerys have her dragons. Probably they would cross paths with Theon Greyjoy and company along the way. To this end, she enlists the Brotherhood Without Banners to her cause, the group wandering the Riverlands and hanging any enemies they meet.
