Putin may meet Iran's Rouhani in Tehran

The negotiations between Iranian and Russian delegations brought about optimal outcomes which can contribute to the realization of priorities highlighted by the presidents of the two countries, Vaezi was quoted as saying. "This question will be now worked through", Ushakov said. The Kremlin aide said the schedule of meetings so far hadn't been finalized.

"Such forum will indeed be held in Tehran".

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Iran later this month, the Kremlin said Friday, with the two countries backing Bashar al-Assad in Syria and Moscow looking to step up business ties after the deal over Tehran's nuclear programme.

Moscow is also keen to use its long-standing relations with Tehran to win lucrative contracts in the energy sector.

The visit will be Putin's first to Iran since 2007 and he is expected to hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Ushakov told reporters.

Iran, Russia, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman are main members of GECF.

Iran is hosting the 12-country natural gas conference in the wake of its nuclear accord with six world powers, which calls for worldwide sanctions on Iran to be lifted in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program.
