PM Nawaz condemns terrorist attacks in France

The president while expressing solidarity with the French people said that the terrorists were enemies of humanity.

In his condolence message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan stands firm behind the people and Government of France in this hour.

US President Barack Obama was due to discuss the plans with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his October visit, but that plan was dropped. However the analysts consider the visit of General Raheel Sharif more crucial than the premier's observing the fact that Pakistani military has always been powerful, and the main stakeholder in fight against terrorism and peace process in Afghanistan.

Even if the U.S. side brought up this issue, "Pakistan will politely remind them that it was India's so-called cold-start doctrine that created the current situation", one source said.

Meanwhile, France has declared a national state of emergency and closed its borders following the killing of over 150 people in a series of terror attacks inside Paris. In a statement issued, the office stated that Pakistan strongly condemns attacks in Paris.

"Terrorism is a new threat to humankind", it said, adding that such attacks can not and will not weaken the resolve of nations across the world to root out the militants and extremists.

Zardari said his heart went out to the bereaved families of those killed and wounded in the Paris terror attacks.

Issues such as Pakistan's nuclear weapons are being handled "by the military only", he said, so it was natural for the army to want to talk to its USA counterparts.

The chief will also demand United States to press Afghanistan government to take action against Pakistani Taliban insurgents who are responsible for terrorist attacks on Pakistan. At least eight militants, all wearing suicide vests, brought unprecedented violence to the streets of the French capital in the worst attacks in Europe since the 2004 Madrid train bombings.
