Israeli army: Palestinian stabs Israeli, is shot dead

The surge in violence has prompted an intense diplomatic drive to douse tensions that many fear herald a third Palestinian intifada. "Israel knows the Palestinian government is serious about making peace".

Hamas said one of its training sites and other infrastructure were hit in the airstrikes.

"There was a serious breakdown", a senior USA official told Haaretz. Israeli settlers in the West Bank responded by rioting, assaulting Palestinians at random and destroying their property.

Palestinian terror attacks have continued despite the announcement that Israel is planning to install security cameras on the Temple Mount in an attempt to calm tensions and stop attacks against non-Muslim visitors to the site.

Raed Said, a doctor at a hospital in Hebron said the Palestinian was pronounced dead on arrival Monday evening.

He added: "The challenge is the presence of the hardline Israelis in the Old City [of Jerusalem] who are provoking the situation".

"There is no initiative towards peace from the Israeli side at all", Abu Hommus said.

Also, Monday, Gaza militants fired a rocket at southern Israel, causing no injuries, the Israeli military said.

Dalia Rabin-Pelossof, the late prime minister's daughter, spoke out against the "this fire which consumes every good part and is fed by unbridled incitement, the same incitement that created the atmosphere that permitted the assassination of a prime minister".

"Now, I hope that based on these conversations we can finally put to rest a few of the false assumptions, perceptions about the Haram al- Sharif/Temple Mount".

The Palestinian government's budget is around $4 billion, which mostly comes from foreign donations.

Kerry strongly pushed a two-state solution on his trip to the region, beginning with an earlier meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Berlin. The soldier was unharmed.

Jordan is the religious custodian of the al-Aqsa compound, by Muslims referred to as the Noble Sanctuary and by Jews as the Temple Mount.

In the latest in a wave of knife attacks by Palestinians, a 19-year-old Israeli was stabbed in the neck and severely wounded while his attacker was shot dead, the army said. Many of those carrying out attacks have been teenagers. But Palestinians claim that this status is fragile, noting that people can be stripped of residency if they leave the city for extended periods of time.

Mr Netanyahu has reportedly ordered a review of the status of certain Palestinian neighbourhoods in east Jerusalem, in a move which could affect the residency rights of tens of thousands of people.

When announcing the agreement, Kerry said Jordanian and Israeli technical teams would have to meet to discuss its implementation.

As residents, they enjoy freedom of movement, the right to work in Israel and access to Israeli social services and health care.

Jerusalem Palestinians are different: Their neighborhoods and villages were incorporated into the city and annexed by Israel after the 1967 war, meaning they enjoy welfare benefits and labor rights denied to residents of the West Bank. Netanyahu's comments have since been confirmed by an Israeli official, according to AP.

"When a decision is made, it will be implemented with coordination and approval of all the relevant parties", police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.

Israeli police are reporting a stabbing in Jaffa, a largely Arab area of Tel Aviv. Furthermore, she said the PA was actually working with Israel to quell protests, rather than inciting them.
