Hundreds of Sudanese Troops Arrive in Yemen

On Friday Unicef, the UN's children's fund, reported that more than half a million Yemeni children were at risk from "severe malnutrition" - a three-fold increase since the Saudi-led bombing campaign began in March.

The deployment of Sudanese troops implies how determined the Arab coalition is in maintaining and preserving the national security of the region.

Soldiers of the Sudanese army along with their vehicles were seen moving in several areas across the southern province of Aden, the sources said.

In another development earlier this week, UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson said on Thursday he hoped UN-backed peace talks to end the conflict in Yemen could start by the end of October.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia. Last month, Sudan took the unusual step of expelling an Iranian diplomat and closing the Iranian cultural centre in its capital. The United States also supports the Saudi coalition and provides intelligence and logistical support. "I don't think Saudi Arabia is under that illusion, I don't think Khartoum is under that illusion, and I don't think Iran is under that illusion". In truth, a solution to Yemen's humanitarian crisis will only come once the warring parties believe a political solution works in their favor, or that the cost of continuing the war is too high.... "They thought the Houthis were still there", one pro-government security official said. Officials say al-Qaida and other extremists have exploited the ensuing chaos.

Saturday's reports indicate that there were two different airstrikes completed by the Saudi-led coalition.

Assault teams of the vessels intercepted any boats found carrying arms and banned material while trying to reach the Red Sea port of Hodeida as the Coalition's naval forces continued to play an effective role in securing worldwide shipping lines through Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a vital global shipping lane for more than 40 percent of worldwide oil trade, including oil exports from the Arabian Gulf.

Also on Sunday, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation sent its 14th aid flight to Yemen.
